I found out i was pregnant about 2 weeks ago now. I am now 6 weeks and 3 days in and haven’t really seen a doctor yet. A bunch of home pregnancy tests, sore chest and no period is all the confirmation i have as of now.
I am waiting for an available midwife to call back within the week so wanted to wait it out since i have no major concerns thus far.
Should i be seeing someone sooner? I don’t even have a family doctor. Walk-in? At what stage did you ladies see your doctor?

My doctor didn’t schedule me until I was 10 weeks.

Most doctors won’t schedule you until 8-10 weeks unless you have a history of complications. I’d make an appointment with the midwife when she calls, but no need to be worried.

@kit-kat: most OBs and Midwives schedule the first appointment at around 8 to 10 weeks of your pregnancy.

I didn’t see my Dr until 8 weeks. It’s normal unless you are high-risk or have concerns due to your symptoms.

@kit-kat: i went to see the dr. at 9 weeks

I am 6 weeks and 3 days too. I have hardly any symptoms either except a missed period, positive tests, weird dreams and a stuffy nose. I have an appointment for next Tuesday with a midwife. They do appointments at 8 weeks. I’ll be a little early, but I figured a few days wouldn’t make much of a difference. 10-12 weeks is common for a first appointment from what I hear.

@kit-kat: I don’t think a doctor will see you any earlier anyways. My doctor did not see me for the first time unitl around 8 weeks.

I saw my doctor for the first time at 7 weeks, but that was ONLY to do bloodwork and take my family history!
You should be fine.

@kit-kat: Yea, I wouldn’t worry about it but I would get an appointment onto the calendar as soon as you hear back from a midwife that you like.

Most doctors won’t see you this early. Mine had me come in around 5 weeks but that’s very uncommon.

I will be nearly 13 weeks by the time I see my OB for the first time! I hate waiting so long 🙁 I really wish we could hear the heartbeat sooner or something.
I had an appointment with my family doctor for an annual check up when I was 4 weeks and they did the HCG blood test and then redid it a week later to confirm it was going up but that’s it.

@kit-kat: I didn’t see my doc until 8w6d. Different doctors offices have different procedures and some doc’s won’t see you untl 8-12 weeks. In the mean time take a prenatal with folic acid and read up on the do’s and don’t of pregnancy (like no alcohol or smoking). GL to you!

@kit-kat: my doctor waits until 6 weeks to do urine and blood confirmation, then at 8 weeks they do an U/S..
