MrsCaruso2be:  Eek…this does not seem like a good situation. 6 months is entirely too long to get photos back, even with editing. Most photos return between 8-12 weeks (depending on the time of year) and they will specify the timeline upfront.

Do you know where her office is? Could you look up her address on white pages? I know it seems a little creepy, but tracking down her personal address and either writing a letter or visiting her may be the only way to get in touch with her.

Go over to her house/studio and see her if she won’t reply to email or social media. For wedding photos 1 month or less is a quick delivery, 2-3 months is about normal in the busy season, 4-5 months is too long, and 6+ months is simply unprofessonal. You are well within your rights to complain and insist she gets them to you ASAP.

MrsCaruso2be:  Past the 6 month mark, I would be threatening legal action if you don’t get an estimated delivery date. It may not be in the contract, but reasonable expectations would say that this is way too long for photo delivery. If you are unable to see her in person, I would send her something like this:

“Dear X, I have been trying to contact you via multiple methods in the past few weeks (phone, text, email, FB) and you have not replied to any of my messages. I hope that everything is all right with you, however please understand that your lack of contact about my wedding photos has been extremely stressful for me and my husband. If I do not hear back from you in the next 3 days with a firm estimated delivery date for my images, I will be forced to talk to my lawyer. I do not wish to take this step, so I hope you will get back to me as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

Mrs C”

If there is still no reply, talk to a lawyer. If the lawyer doesn’t think you can do anything, start leaving factual negative reviews on her FB, review sites, warning other vendors, etc. But hopefully it will not get to that point.

MrsCaruso2be:  Glad you liked! I would be adding a big “IMPORTANT” title to your email/messages too so she can’t possibly miss it. You’ve gone too easy on her for too long, time to show her that you are serious about getting those pictures by the time you leave or there will be consequences for her and her business.

MrsCaruso2be:

If she works out of her home, it’s not a good idea to go over there.

Anyway, I’m no lawyer, but my action would be sort of like @Penang1885’s except that I would send the photographer a Certified letter (not an e-mail).  Keep a copy for yourself.  Your photographer has to actually sign for Certified letters, so she will not have the excuse to say she never received it. In the letter you could…

  • Courteously remind her of the terms of the contract and what was promised in your package,
  • Mention that 6 months is beyond a reasonable amount of time to wait for the products you paid for, and
  • State that if in 30 days (or however many days you want to give her) you do not receive your items or your money back, you will be forced to pursue legal action.

Sorry it came to this, but good luck!

That is extremely unprofessional and you also paid good money. I hope it all works out for you. I am also the kind of person who doesn’t like to push, but I would recommend sarahuccs route.

MrsCaruso2be:  Did you ever end up getting your photos? I am in the same situation at the moment, and was just wondering how it worked out for you.
