im having a dillemma.
ive had my dress picked out since i got engaged (three years ago), and have had it in my house for about 2 months now (bought it second hand). its the dress.
brides are supposed to look elegant, and timeless and I am worried that ill look too over the top.
its six weeks until the big day, and im worried im going to look like a child playing dress up, not an elegant bride.
my dress is the Alfred Angelo 205 ‘Cinderella’
the top layer is all glittery tulle
i am wearing a elbow length white two tier veil and a tiara. im not wearing any jewelry except stud pearl earrings and a very simple pearl pendant (there is pearls on the dress).
i know no one will see my shoes but im stressing about the ones i want. They are the Christian Louboutin Cinderella shoes (look a like, not real).
my problem is that i dont want it to be too over the top. i think once the entire look is put together on the day i will know if its too much.
i also have a backup pair of shoes that are glittery cobalt blue peep toe heels (imagine the red shoes in the wizard of OZ but blue) incase these ones are too OTT.

@MrsFitness: I love the shoes and the dress. I think they will compliment each other well.

I think you will look beautiful! Since you are doing minimal jewelry, I don’t think you will be too over the top at all- i think it will be the perfect amount of sparkle.

I think you will look perfect!

I think that dress is amazing.
The real question IMO is, could you really stand in something like that all day long? Keep in mind that between the pics, the ceremony, the dancing, and the receiving line/visiting every table, the bride doesn’t get to sit very much AT ALL. If you’re going to get these, I’d invest in the real thing. I had a few pairs of shoes that were amazing, but at the end of the day I had to compromise a lot of my style and “offbeat”-ness for something I knew I could stand up in for hours at a stretch. Either way, not many will see them.
But no, not over the top if you think they won’t hurt. Just don’t wear a statement necklace or something, and you’ll be just fine.

Its your wedding day – the one day we are allowed to be a bit more over the top!!
If you love it – who cares?! I’ve chosen a quite “princess” like dress (which originally wasn’t what I thought I would want) and I think to myself, I get to do this once, so yes I want a gorgeous big dress! I think your dress is beautiful by the way!

Both together, with a strand of pearl necklace would be gorgeous!! When I saw both, I was like aw… a princess bride — definitely not over the top.
I would mirror the concern about the comfort of the shoe; maybe you may want to try find proper insoles and practice walking/standing in them for a few hours at home.

I might pick the blue shoes. Then you will have your ‘something blue’ checked off!

@MrsFitness: That is a 5 inch heel with no platform, the only thing over the top for me would be my feet, coming over the top of my head, as I hit the ground. It you can pull off that height I will climb up on a ladder to high five you in those awesome shoes 😉

I don’t think it’s over the top. I think it’s beautiful!

I don’t think the look will be over the top but if it is, so what? That dress is beautiful and those shoes are fabulous!!!! You only get one day to be all about you!

@MrsFitness: Omg. Please get those shoes. I adore those. I remember when they were introduced and fell in love. They, in no way, shape, or form, go with my dress or the style of my wedding but I’d wear them if I had a dress like yours.

I don’t think it’s too much. The dress is classic and beautiful and nobody is really going to be seeing your shoes constantly.

The dress is lovely!! . . . but the shoes are a bit over the top due to the extreme height of the heels. Since nobody will see them, why not opt for something that will be a little more comfortable during what will be a very long day/night. You don’t want to thinking about your aching feet during your beautiful wedding day!
If I recall correctly from my Disney days, Cinderella’s glass slippers had very low heels . . .

I would love to see a picture of you in the dress!!!
Just because it’s hard to tell, and give a honest opinion when you can’t see what your hair is like, or how you’ll have your makeup!
the dress is beautiful, and if you’re worried about the shoes making things over the top, just remember that no one sees your shoes haha.
And I’d recommend getting flats for the evening! they will KILL you if you wear them all day long. the last thing you want on your wedding day is to feel uncomfy!
