We are planning on getting married next November. I would like a destination wedding but it must meet certain critria.
-I will not go to a resort where I might end up sick from the food or water. I don’t want anyone to end up sick on the wedding day.
-It must be Safe for children. I have a young son and nephew who would be coming and I do not want to put them in an unsafe situation.
-Must be affordable. We plan to start trying for another baby on the wedding night so I dont want to be in debt going forward from that day.
The problem I seem to be having is no one post package prices with a reception included. I want a one stop shop type deal. Ceremony and reception for 20 people. If any one can point me in a good direction it would be greatly apperciated!! 🙂

My Fiance and I wanted affordable and safe for children so we went with a travel agent/destination wedding planner (its actually a destination wedding planning company) and they have helped SO MUCH. BUT we are doing 50+ people traveling for the wedding. If your doing a smaller affair, start to think about where you want to be.
For the most part, resorts are clean. Maybe look at higher star resorts? reading reviews? I know getting married in mexico was WAY off the list as far as safe went. My Mother-In-Law is convinced thats why it so cheap to get married there. Were doing Jamacia. My family is from there and ive only gotten sick off “campus” when im not being careful.

@Jaxxmom: Mexico All inclusives ARE safe. take it from someone who lives in Mexico (in the bad part on the border) and has access to the local news – cancun is fine
of tourist related crime – 99% is pickpocketing. of tourist related fatalities 99% are drowing incidents (normally with copious amounts of alcohol involved). Providing you dont try to buy drugs or do anything you wouldnt do at home you have a far far greater chance of being hurt in the plane journey over or in the taxi ride over
Anyways, Mexican AIs have all inclusive packages
but, why not try hawaii

We travelled to Maui this past summer and LOVED it. They do not have all inclusives though (as far as i know) so that would make it a bit harder to plan. I did feel totally safe there though.
I guess I am having a hard time decided how much to spend and where it the best/easiest place to go.

A lot of the resorts will include a semi-private dinner in one of their restaurants with a set menu for a certain number of people. Usually 20 people is few enough that it would be included. It is super overwhelming to chose the venue, but we met with a travel agent and got quotes for a bunch of different resorts for the travel portion, and then only got in touch with our favourites to get wedding package information. Then I made spread sheets to price out all the perceived costs, and chose the one that gave us the most of what we wanted for a decent price. Good luck!

Mexico is really your best bet. I would suggest going to Nuevo Vallarta, which is on a bay outside of Puerto Vallarta. The bay is lined with resorts and you have to go through a guarded gate to get onto the road which takes you to these resorts. If you stay on the resort you will be absolutely 100% safe. I’m having mine in Dreams Villamagna and it is a package deal, including reception. And you shouldn’t drink the tap water, but the bottled water is free so it’s not a big deal.
