In light of a post that I put up yesterday, and to a response with which I agree is true, I can’t make that generalisation, but it seems to me that a lot of people have had disappointing experiences with seamstresses.
So this is a poll. If you have been to a good seamstress could you share it to help out other bees please.

I didn’t vote because my answer doesn’t really fit any of the choices. I was extremely happy with my seamstress; however, I do wish that she would have suggested more coverage for my girls.
I have DDs and I don’t normally show them off, so I was a bit uncomfortable on my wedding day with so much of them showing. It didn’t help that my girls didn’t notice that my gown wasn’t pulled up properly when I put it on either.
If I would have had more coverage, I would have been much more comfortable with my dress and I think based on my conversations with my seamstress and her experience, she should have pointed out that the dress would slip as the day went on, so I might be showing more of the girls than I wanted.
I did have her put in a privacy peice of lace in between the sweetheart and it looked awesome when I tried it on, but when it came to actually moving around in it, I could have used more coverage.

@noritake22: That’s unfortunate. Did it show in the photos? sometimes you can see corsets/bras sticking out on a bride in wedding photos. I hope that didn’t happen to you… I think because it’s such a major day, everything is very important.

I was 100% happy with my seamstress; however, I was really picky and told her exactly what I wanted! And made sure it was right afterwards and it wasn’t I would tell her so that she could fix it!
So when we were all done it was perfect 🙂

I was 100% happy with my seamstress. She worked for the bridal shop.

@FMM: Yeah but after telling a seamstress so many times that you’re not happy with it, you tend to think can she do any better?

My seamstress, Janet, was AWESOME. Before we even met, we conversed via email and I sent her photos of my dress. @ my first fitting, she already had a game plan and it was executed brilliantly.
A week before the wedding, she also fixed some minor hiccups on my China made reception dress.
I can’t wait to go back to her since she handles more than just wedding dresses.

@knight.keira: Yes, and I hate most of the photos with me in them. I so wish I could do the pictures over again.
I wasn’t wearing a corset or a bra, but that wasn’t the problem. The problem was that the girls didn’t help me put the dress on properly to begin with. I guess because we were too excited. And then the more I moved around the more of the girls got to show. No one said anything and everyone I asked about it said I looked beautiful, but I think they were just being nice because when I look at the pictures way more is showing than I have ever showed in real life. The fact that I am a DD on top didn’t help matters.

I went to a local seamstress who I heard was great by word of mouth. People definitely weren’t lying to me because she was awesome and had my dress ready to go within three days! 🙂
