I work in a school as an SLP and my room is right next to one of the Kindergarten rooms. Apparently this morning one of the kindergarteners got into a “fight” with another student (like went up and hit him).
When the mom came to pick the child up his teacher told the mom what had happened. The mom got pretty angry, yelling at him, and when they left she stormed down the hall in front of him by at least 6 paces. She then yelled “This is why I don’t love you! You are a bad boy!”
I was in shock! Who says that to their child!? The poor boy was just hanging his head and trying to keep up. 🙁

Wow, that’s horrible. I would report her to the school, that kid should be in counseling

“this is why I don’t love you” ?!?!?
Sure, everyone says things in the heat of the moment and they don’t mean them, but DAAAAAMN that’s harsh!

ooooh my god! I’m also an SLP in the schools and I think if I had heard that I would have cried. I would have definitely talked to the teacher about that and gone to the councelor as well. That’s just awful!

@MeiFrancis: +1. the counselor should probably sit down and chat with him from time to time to make sure he’s ok. that mom is out of line.

@hollyberry4: Oh my gosh – I would NEVER!
I’ve never heard something like that – Definitely verbal abuse – I might talk to the teacher about that mother’s behavior – maybe her boy acts out cuz he’s abused.

Oh no… I feel so sorry for him and the issue’s he’s inevitably going to have for the rest of his life. What a wench.

That’s terrible. Reminds me of a time a mother of a beautiful girl with Down Syndrome didn’t want her to be photographed for the yearbook/fall photos. “Why bother” she said to me and gave me an eye roll.
Mean soulless &^!!

O no. That just made my heart so sad for him. That’s awful. If she does that in public, just imagine what she’s like in the privacy of their home.

@hollyberry4: That’s horrific. Even saying that he’s a “bad boy” is unacceptable in my book — I think it’s okay to say that his BEHAVIOR was bad, but not that HE is bad — but to say “this is why I don’t love you…” That’s heartbreaking.
