Donna’s Baking Creations is the LAST place to get a cake! I went in March and picked out a beautiful cake. I was charged over $400 for a cake to feed 115 people. When we got the final guest list, we adjusted the size; we paid $358 for it. That was including a rental fee for a cake stand that WE provided. We made it a point to make sure that we gave the baker my cell phone number as well as the planner’s name and cell phone number. The baker called me the week of the wedding and informed me she would be at the venue (ceremony and reception in the same venue) by 5:30pm. The cake did not arrive until 7pm!!!!!!! We had moved the ceremony inside (due to bad weather) and I was quite literally preparing to walk down the aisle when the cake showed up. The planner and my mother had spent an hour calling the only number we had (the baker’s home number).
The baker blamed her tardiness on traffic. The planner informed her that she had called repeatedly without a response and seeing as the wedding had been held up an hour to accomodate the baker, she requested a full refund on our behalf. The baker refused a full refund and informed her she would contact me. I had to contact the baker and requested half of the charged amount. She contacted my husband and informed him that the only refund she would offer was $100. This was after she claimed she had no contact information for me or my planner. I have since emailed her again and outlined what we paid for and did not receive and again requested 50% of what we paid for. Still waiting for a response…….hopefully a trip to court won’t be necessary.
The sad part is that I only had 75 people and paid $358 for a cake; my cousin went to Sylvia’s Cakes and got a cake for 100 people for $250.
