I ordered some earrings for my BMs at the beginning of the month from a shop on Etsy that is located in Bulgaria. They had RAVE reviews about the products, and nothing about problems with shipping. I have only received one package overseas in my life, and this was last December for a gift exchange – and my gift came from Australia and didn’t seem to take long to make it to the US after it was mailed. This package was set to arrive within 10-15 days, depending on the mail.
I checked the tracking on it, and it showed as of August 13 that it was at ICS NY NY, and listed that “Origin Post Preparing for Shipping”. I did a search on what that meant, and I guess it means that the country of origin (in this case, Bulgaria) waits until a bin/box is full of mail that needs to be sent to the same country, and until that is full – your package sits. So, you really never know when it’ll get mailed until other stuff is there that will also go to the US. Which, does make sense.
But… um… that makes me nervous! My wedding isn’t for another 45 days so I do have time, but it just makes me nervous that it may not come for awhile still. I did contact the shop owner and she said that she doesn’t see anything different on her end, but I could contact the post office to locate the shipment. In my search today for that phrase, I did find a pretty cool website that tracks global packages and includes details… so that makes me feel better.
I guess if all else fails and I don’t get the earrings in time (they’re rhinestones with a drop pearl), I’ll just get my girls pearl earrings and call it good.
