Either of those are great.  Just ask yourself how formal do you want the wedding?  How do you want guests to dress, etc.  I think this makes the paper decisions easier. The first one is more trendy, fun, casual.  The second one is more classic, formal, traditional, romanitic.  Which better describes how you picture your event?

BTW: With save the dates don’t have to match your eventual invites nor do they necessarily set the tone of the event since they are mailed so far in advance.  So even if you picked one and then wanted to change the tone later with your invites, that will be fine.

@MrsP0801:  How about something like this? I think it’s both vintage and classic. You can order it in custom colors; it’s from weddingpaperdivas.com. I ordered my bridal shower invitations from there and they came out great.

I think this could look really pretty with a peach background and faded peachy-cream mix for the design, gold font.

I thought the second one was an actual invitation at first glance because it looks so formal and has so much more information than a normal STD does. I don’t think most people spell out the date on the STD, they only do that for the invite. So maybe think about having a more casual STD and more formal invite, that could be a good comprise with you and your FI’s preferences.
