I have seen this on the news, really sad ๐Ÿ™  I hope things get straightened out- it seems the city officials are making it a top priority.  My thoughts are with you!  If you have faith, I would lean on that.

So, so sorry to hear you’re going through this!  OMG, how horrible, my heart goes out to you.  You’re right that we do tend to take our perceived “safety” for granted.  You are so close to this violence that you may want to see a counselor who specializes in things like PTSD.  You have been emotionally traumatized by this.  I am so sorry and so sad for you.  Just know that there are thoughts and prayers with you.  Praying for peace for you, your loved ones, family and friends.

It’s pretty bad here in New Orleans too. (I know… you’re all shocked.) I won’t get into details.

It’s a scary world out there. I’m not a spiritual person however, I do believe that everything happens for a reason. Afterall, we can’t have the good without the bad. Just be glad that you and your SO (and dog) are okay. Maybe take a vacation!

OH and stop reading the news. I’ve been reading the news a lot because of all the bad things going on and I can’t sleep at night. AVOID! My Fiance has told me to put the news outlets down numerous times because it only mkes it worse. But still be cautious when avoiding news outlets.

Watching happy movies always helps me get my mind off of things. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry to hear that it is all hitting close to home but maybe this article will make you feel a bit better: Despite Spike, Seattle Murder Rate Low For City of Its Size

I’ve lived in LA, Dallas, and now Atlanta and I think we sometimes become de-sensetized to all the violance that occurs in large cities until an event hits closer to home.

Thanks for posting this.  I live overseas and rarely get any news about what’s going on back in the states.  I am shocked…I always considered Seattle to be a really safe city.  Stay safe bee!

What happened in Seattle is absolutely horrible, and my heart goes out to everyone affected by the violence. I know if I lived in the area I would be traumatized too!

But I would also remind you that despite this incident, the likelihood of a given Seattleite being killed or hurt by gun violence is still extremely low. You’re right that none of us are perfectly safe all the time, but when danger comes, it’s likely to be in the form of something mundane, like a car accident, rather than dramatic, like a random shooting.
