No, there is not a specific time you need to have sex. I’ve read that morning sex is better but you can still get pregnant at night. Your best chances are the three last days of fertility.

@tiedtogetherwithasmile:  No particular time of the day, but it is actually helpful if you have sex in the days leading up to when you ovulate.

@tiedtogetherwithasmile:  I don’t think there is a specific time.  I just go according what the instructions in the opk box advises and what i’ve been told, which is once you get your +opk you have 24 to 36 hrs to BD for your O window.  I don’t know how accurate that might be as iam still TTC, and this is only my 2 cycle using opks

@tiedtogetherwithasmile:  No specific time during ovulation is needed but the best thing to do is have sex a few days leading up to ovulation day and on ovulation day. Your fertile period is actually a few days and if you have sex prior to ovulation you are giving the sperm time to travel up the fallopian tube so that when ovulation occurs they can get in there!! =) I picture Look Who’s Talking whenever I think of that.

Definitely no specific time.  The egg itself can be fertilized for about 24 hours once it is released.  Sperm can live up to 4-5 days max, so theoretically there’s a total of about 6 days in which you have a chance.  With that said, chances are low 4-5 days pre-ovulation, so your best time is about the 3-4 day period starting 2 days before ovulation and ending the day of ovulation or day after.

My understanding of OPK is that the hormone that OPK detects doesn’t peak for long so for that you need to be careful to test at the right times.  But for sex itself, no time of day issues.

@tiedtogetherwithasmile:  I am so sorry about your miscarriage. Sperm can live inside of you for 3-5 days (some even say up to seven days) so if you know when you are ovulating, as long as you have had unprotected sex within a few days before then, you can get pregnant.

How do you know that you are ovulating, though?

@tiedtogetherwithasmile:  I can absolutely tell when I’m ovulating too, so for everyone who asks “how do you know”, I just feel blessed that I actually DO know and know myself well-enough and am regular enough to know. You aren’t weird – I think you’re actually quite lucky 🙂

@tiedtogetherwithasmile: & @kappasweetiepie:  The only reason I ask is because most people use ovulation pain (if they aren’t doing OPKs or BBT) as a guide or CM, neither of which are good indicators of when the egg is actually released, both can be within days of it. So I was just curious if you were calculating it and detecting it or if you were just listening to your body =)
