This is our first month TTC, and I immediately began tracking ovulation with the Clearblue Ovulation tests/sticks....Even though I got a couple of smiley faces, and we did what we needed to do, and I TRULY thought it worked due to symptoms, we are not preggers.

I was really impressed with the test sticks, especially bc it gave me smileys on Day 10 and Day 11, which are not the days I thought I would be ovulating.

Should I stick with these, or is there a benefit to one of those kind-of expensive ovulation monitors?  What is the difference?

I just want to know if they're better than than the strips.  I really don't care right now how much they cost, if they're better, and increase baby chances, then please let me know and I'm going to buy one on Amazon tonight!!!

I don't have experience with the monitors, I use the clear blue easy sticks.  I got pregnant the first time using them after seeing a smiley, unfort. I miscarried weeks later, but we are back on track to TTC and I got a smiley a week ago and DTD.  I personally like the sticks because they have been accurate for me and are not too expensive, I also buy mine from amazon, hope this helps and good luck, sending baby dust your way that next month will be your month :)

I didn't use the ovulation tests because from what I've read, they only tell you when/after you ovulate, which is usually too late to get pregnant.  But I wanted to suggest the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility", like so many other bees suggested to me.  After reading that book, I knew exactly what signs to look for and we were pregnant the first month of TTC.

What an exciting time - Good luck to you!!

i used the Clear blue fertility monitor and loved it. i dont know much about ovulation sticks but with CBFM its gives you high days ( usually a couple days before you ovulate) when you have a high chance of getting pregnant and then you will get you peak egg day (where your egg wil drop within 24-36 hours). I think that its a pretty good bc it doesnt just tell you when your about to ovulate it tells you a couple days ahead of time.

heres a good thread to look at:http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/anyone-use-clear-blue-easy-fertility-monitor

also if you type in cbfm in teh search box you will find more threads. hope that helps!

I like the regular ovulation predictor sticks just fine.  I get clear readings from them, and it sounds like you do too.  When you get the smiley, you generally ovulate within 24-48 hours (36 is common), so it's good to have sexy time that night and the following 2.  You typically O around the same time each month (not always exact same day though).  But if you usually O between days 11-13, say, you know to get it on a few days before then too.  Sounds like the "peak" day on the CBFM is the same as the LH surge on the regular sticks.  Good luck!

I chart in addition to using the cheap Amazon OPKs (I prefer the smiley face sticks, but the cheap ones are, well, cheaper). I always get a positive on the sticks a day or two before charting shows my temps start to rise. I know some bees love the monitor, but the sticks are just fine for me.

Of course, I'm haven't gotten pregnant yet, but I don't think it's because I use the sticks. They clearly and consistently tell me when I'm gearing up to ovulate.

I had very regular cycles after going off the pill, so I just used the sticks.  Of course, after trying for three months I got impatient and bought the ClearBlueEasy monitor.  Turns out we didn't need it because I got pregnant after our third month of trying.

Ha, so now I have a very expensive un-used monitor if anyone is interested!
