I’m just posting to complain. I had laster teeth whitening earlier today and oooowww. I keep having these sharp shooting pains in the same spot that come and go. I am so dang hungry but afraid to eat lunch because I don’t want to trigger one of the pains. The dentist warned me this could be a side effect, but I didn’t think it would be this bad! I’m getting to the point where I’m ready to take a pain killer because advil isn’t cutting it, but I was planning on going to Zumba tonight and pain killers plus Zumba don’t mix lol.
Anyway, just needed to vent because I am hurting and hangry lol. Anyone else go through this and if so how long did the pain last?

It will pass! But I do have a funny story for you.
A friend of mine was getting married and the drive was about 5-6 hours for us. We made a stop at a sam’s club along the way to buy an emergency phone charger or something and we happened to pass a display of the Crest Whitestrips super duper 1 hour express whitening strips- it said you could actually do 2 back to back for EXTREME whitening POWER!!! With 3 or 4 hours left in our drive we thought it was a genius idea to whiten our smiles on the way. We anticipated arriving with blinding white teeth, but instead we arrived with blinding pain. 🙁
After the ceremony, FI (a whitening novice) was a lot worse off than I was and insisted we visit a pharmacy on the way to the reception to buy him painkillers and Orajel (numbing gel for toothaches). We tried to have a good time at the reception, but our teeth hurt waaaay too much to really enjoy the food or dancing- or even to think about anything else. We were miserable. After 4 whiskey drinks, FI proclaimed that his teeth hurt too much to even get a good buzz going and would I mind if he just went to bed. (Reception was held in the lodge where all the guests were staying).
We look back and laugh at ourselves, the whole thing was so ridiculous!

@waterbaby: lolmg!!! I’ve read a lot about teeth sensivity with whitening strips. My fiance and I want to do them before our wedding but he has pretty sensitive teeth. We will for sure avoid the 1 hour ones.. 😉

@kimmo416: The pain won’t last for too long, for me it was about a day? The pain I had was actually worse with express white strips than it was for professional whitening.
@waterbaby: OMG, I used the express strips on the way to a cousin’s wedding and holy pain… DH was making fun of me cause I kept rubbing my teeth. In the future I won’t do anything like that on the way!
