I am a June bride, but my FI and I are on day 6 of P90X.  He really wanted to get in shape before the wedding, so as his birthday present, I vowed to do at least 30 days of P90X with him (but I am really liking it and hope I will do all 90 days).  It has been so helpful to have another person to keep me motivated through the workouts and to make me do them even when the day is really busy (I wanted to skip yesterday because the day was crazy, but he stuck with it)

I used it too!  GREAT results with that program!  I think you may stick with it this time because a wedding is VERY motivating, LOL. I gave myself realistic goals, and I stuck it out until I got to them.

I also paired it with the Biggest Loser diet plan.  I ended up losing 20lbs and 2 sizes!

Good luck, its a tough program. I tried it earlier in the year and lasted about 3 wks. Its a great workout though if you stick with it! Good luck πŸ™‚

@r elizabeth: If you would like I can move this thread to the fitness board?

If you’ve done Weight Watchers and it worked for you, then I’d recommend you stick with something you know and are comfortable with.  The general rule in the BL plan is to be strict two days a week, semi-strict three days a week, and allow yourself some fun food on the weekends.  That really worked for me because I would be semi-strict MWF, really strict T,TH, and then I could go out with friends and enjoy myself on the weekends.  But I did cut out ALL alcohol to keep my metabolism up.  WW has a great plan too, though, so if that’s what works for you, then stick to WW.  I’ve heard nothing but great things and I think I may join after the baby is born!

I did finish the entire program.  It ended a little before I got home for the wedding, and I was also training for a marathon, so I ran the marathon and had a little down time before the wedding.  Maybe make yourself a calendar and put a sticker up for every day you do the workout?  Seeing all those stickers add up really boosted my confidence!  It made me want to keep going.  Small goals!

πŸ™‚  Moved!  Thanks for the congrats!

If you’re going to do the BL plan, you may as well join the online community, since the books come with it for free.  Plus you’ll have access to online experts when you have questions, and they have some tools on there to keep you motivated.  I think you get a three month subscription for $50, something like that.  And you get three books with it for free.  If you’re gonna do the plan, you want the books, and you may as well have a helpful and supportive community to turn to!

I kinda trained simultaneously.  I was deployed and kinda bored, so after work EVERY DAY I would run on a treadmill at the gym for an hour.  Sometimes I’d jog and sometimes I would do interval training, but it was always an hour.  Then on Sundays I would do a long run.  I did P90X in my apartment when I’d get home from the gym.  So I ended up working out about 2 hours per day.  It was hard, but I set weekly goals (lose one pound, lose one “total body” inch).  I kept myself at my small goals, which ended up helping me succeed with my larger goal.
