Having done both I would say its kind of a tough call.

I did P90X for two months but I found that I was really bored with it by then. Its tough and great for your legs butt etc but just didn’t keep me interested. Plus it takes a big time commitment. 6 days a week of an hour to an hour and a half was tough for me.

The Shred was great too. Its quick so I didn’t get bored with it as quickly. Plus I find Jillian to be much more entertaining and easier to listen to. It feels like you are getting an intense workout in a much shorter time so I felt like it was easier to commit to.

I guess for me the final answer is that I need more variety and P90x just felt old after doing it for a few weeks and then I was kind of dreading doing it.

Hope this helps a little.

I haven’t done the 30 day shred, but I am on week 9 of P90X right now and I have had the opposite experience of Derbybride – I am never bored and really look forward to the workouts, plus I was motivated by the great results. It is a huge time committment though, so if time worries you, then I would go for the Shred.

I haven’t done P90X yet, but I’d recommend starting with the Shred if you have a hard time committing a workout every day. For a long time I only felt like I had the time to work out on weekends because work and school always got in the way. But since the Shred is only 20 minutes per day, there’s really no excuse not to slip it in and stick with it.

Plus, it’s still a hard workout. I did one of the Biggest Loser workout videos the other day, because I didn’t have the Shred with me, and I was just laughing at it. Jillian had a 10 minute segment that was fairly intense, but Bob and Kim’s parts were not nearly as high intensity as I’m now used to. All in all, I did 3 segments + the warm up, which was about 45 minutes of workout, and it was less grueling than 20 minutes of the Shred.

I’m looking forward to doing P90X once I’m really in the habit of working out all the time and have my endurance built up. Plus, it’s nice to change it up.

I have only done a few of the workouts from P90X but I would notice a difference in toning THE NEXT DAY. My Fiance has been doing it for 3 weeks now and he has lost 8 lbs!!! I can also tell that his face is thinner and stomach is going down!! He really likes it a lot. He likes the workouts, he likes the whole community online that he is a part of, he likes the diet, and most of all he is liking the fast results!
