Hi bees. Here’s my question. What is CD1 in relation to a miscarriage?
As you know, I had a miscarriage this last weekend. Here’s is how it went:
Saturday night (04/14/2012, CD35/CD1): Spotting started around 08:00 PM. Continued spotting until bed. Spoke with a doctor around midnight, who said it may be normal bleeding, but may be an impending miscarriage. I put in FF that I had spotting that day and the little red triangle showed up, no changes in cycle days on my calendar.
Sunday morning (04/15/2012 CD36/CD1/CD2): At around 04:00 AM, bleeding picked up, and I passed a large clot attached to a string. I put in fertility friend that I had a “medium” bleed at this time, and it changed this day to CD1.
Monday (04/16/2012 CD1/CD2/CD3): My doctor confirmed I had a miscarriage. I again put in “medium” bleed on FF.
Tuesday (04/17/2012): Bleeding slowed to spotting. This is when I thought about it, and FF had a checkbox for “miscarriage” so I checked the box for “miscarriage” on Sunday. CD1 was moved to Monday as opposed to Sunday, which is what it said before.
So my question is this… Would my first day of my last menstrual period (theoretically, if I were to ovulate normally and we were to get pregnant right away) be Saturday, Sunday or Monday?
Here’s my pg chart for those that are visual:
Here’s my new chart:

It would definitely be Sunday. I asked my doctor about this both times I MC’d and she always said that it would be the first day of a red bleed.
I’m so sorry that you’re even in the position to have to know the answer to the question. I hope that your sticky baby will be on it’s way soon!

When I had my miscarriage, Fertility Friend kind of freaked out on me and I ended up starting a new chart. I know a few others ended up doing the same thing. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I wasn’t charting yet when I had my miscarriage, but I agree that the first day of the new cycle is the first day of heavy red bleeding. I hope you’ll have a sticky BFP soon.

I’m so so sorry for your loss.
I refused to chart the first month after my miscarriage, but I agree with the others, I’d have marked the first day of red bleeding, Sunday, as CD1.

@Running Elley: Thanks for your response! I am sorry about your miscarriages. It’s hard, isn’t it? I had very light red on Saturday night but it was primarily brown spotting until Sunday. My doctor isn’t easily accessed without missing a lot of work, and I’ve already missed a LOT of work for doctors appointments over this so thank you!!
@ieatunicorns: That’s odd about FF. Maybe I will contact them and ask if this has been fixed with any updates… Maybe they don’t know about that! Thanks for your help, support and advice!
@chastenet: Thank you, I do too! I’m very sorry about your miscarriage as well =(
@Mrs Sarah McK: Thank you for your advice and support!
@Audreysdance: Your support and love is greatly appreciated!!! Thank you! I am doing okay. My desire for a baby outweighs any sadness so I’m ready to try this again!

I;m so sorry about your miscarriage. I just went through one myself. I finally stopped bleeding this week and now I’m ready for a new cycle to start. We still have to wait 2 more months before we can try again. Hugs and prayers that things recover quickly and you will have a sticky baby very soon!

So sorry about your miscarriage. I had one in December and it took my body over a month to get passed that and on to a fresh cycle. Are you planning on testing it out so that you know for sure when your body isn’t thinking itself pregnant anymore? I decided to just so that I knew for sure that if I got a positive test after that that it really did mean something and wasn’t just my body holding on to hcg.

I’m sorry about your miscarriage 🙁 FF says CD1 is when your flow is heavy enough for a tampon, so I’d say Sunday.

@BabyLove: Thank you for your prayers!
@Mrs. Bonnie Blue: I’m so sorry for your loss. Thanks for the hugs and prayers and I’m sending them right back at you =)
@dodgercpkl: My HCG was relatively low throughout the pregnancy, but the one brand I did get a positive on, after everything was passed I did get a negative on that, but I was just curious haha I didn’t think about my next test and stuff. Thank you for the advice.
@QBbride: Thanks for your response and support!! =)
