It really is frustrating!! When I was planning our wedding, I checked and double checked to make sure that what I was buying didn’t come over budget because of shipping!!

@MsGinkgo:  $45??? Um, no thank you. Geeze!  What color are you looking for in the flip flops and what do they look like? Just wondering if you could get away with getting them the old navy ones.

I totally agree! Shipping is always terrible! It’s really sad when you look at $15 shipping (7-14 business days) and think it’s an awesome deal aha. I also really hate when companies try to “help” by adding duties and taxes on my order. It isn’t helpful, it’s irritating, because I rarely ever have to pay duties when an item arrives! I’d rather just risk it and not pay them at the checkout aha. Oh and I also really hate when you see “FREE SHIPPING” all over a site and then you realise that it only applies to US residents 🙁

@MsGinkgo:  Check and see if they will use USPS. It will be a lot cheaper. I have things shipped to me quite regularly and USPS is the way to go because even if you end up having to pay duty/taxes you still won’t get charged a brokerage fee. Most of our wedding clothes and accessories came from all over the world especially the US and I never paid that much shipping.

ugh i know! even worse than the insane shipping is when things won’t ship to canada! i’ve been using a brokerage outside of buffalo… shipping everything to them and making the trip down every couple of months to pick up the items. much cheaper, even if you have to pay duties at the border.

@alleycat1984: @mu_t+10000.

@MsGinkgo: I get tons of stuff shipped to Bay Brokerage in Tonawanda. I found them through Kinek.com. Pretty much everything costs $5 to ship there (it’s based on weight, so if you get something insanely heavy, it costs more), and they’ll hold it for 30 days. It has seriously changed my life.

I hear ya!  I was looking to buy a $28 agenda I really wanted from the States back in the summer and promptly dropped the idea when I saw that shipping would be $30.  That’s right, more than the cost of the product itself.  F*cking ridiculous.

But you know what was worse?  I have family in the States that will be coming for Christmas, so I decided to order it and have it sent to them because they give free shipping on all orders with no minimum – and I can’t even order it because they won’t let you use a non US billing address!!!  WTF?  So angry.

(I found another site that will ship for $10 and I’m debating whether it’s worth it. >.<)

@MsGinkgo:  I think once or twice a year Old Navy actually runs a promotion on $1 flip flops.  I’ll usually see bees posting about it during that time!  But $2.50 is a steal too. 🙂
