You guys have always been helpful when I’ve had questions in the past, so here’s another one.
We bought a house last summer and I’m putting the finishing touches on our living room right now. I bought some curtains I really liked at Ikea, Aina in natural. These go really well with our dark wood blinds and the decor in our living room. We have grey furniture, a large light blue patterned rug, and amongst other things, this artwork from World Market. I’m throwing in pops of color elsewhere in red and yellow as there is a lot of netural going on in our bigger pieces.
Unfortunately, my only problem is our paint color. The former owners repainted the entire house in neutrals before they put it up for sale, and the color in our living room I really like, so I haven’t changed it. Three of the walls are a lighter beige, and an accent wall is a darker taupe. The only problem I have is that the curtains I’ve purchased basically blend right in with the beige on the walls. I considered painting that wall the same taupe as the accent wall, so that the curtains look a little better against it, but I’m wondering if that will look weird? Since an accent wall is usually just the focal point, is it going to look totally off if my living room has two walls one color and one walls another?
I’m thinking even if it’s questionable, the wall I’d be painting is literally 75% window (our front windows are gigantic), so there won’t be much wall color to actually see.
For those who are good at visualizing and know more about painting than me, is that a gigantic no-no? Should I consider going for another color? If so, any suggestions? Thanks!
