There are 3 pics for each great room color, one each from 2 angles, and one also of just an accent wall. I don't love accent walls but other people seem to so I thought maybe I should try it out!

I personally like the light blue myself. However, I think the teal is fantastic as well. A lot of design bloggers are going bold these days, so that's probably why I'm drawn to it.
Have you seen the guest room from the Young House Love blog?
http://www.younghouselove.com/2011/02/the-guest-room-done-for-now/
whew! finally done. I apologize that it took me 4 posts and 20 minutes to get my photos uploaded. Weddingbee is having some serious issues and would only let me post 1 photo at a time.
I'm biased because I like light colors, especially love light blue. So to me both rooms look great in light blue.
The teal and purple both seem very energetic for a bedroom. I prefer more calming colors but that's a personal preference. So for the bedroom, I would vote light blue or light green.
For the great room, I prefer the light blue, with the teal second. I would probably do the whole room, but the accent wall is ok too.
If you love the plum for the great room, I would use it as an accent, rather than a wall color. A neutral color like grey, light moss green, beige with lots of plum accents would be great. Although, looking at the pics again, the plum accent wall is kind of nice.
Love the teal in the bedroom. The light blue is my fav for the greatroom, but I don't like the accent wall either.
@hunni b: thanks for your opinion! I agree with you about the calming bedroom thing which is why I keep going back to that light green... the problem is its kind of what I feel like I SHOULD have rather than what I want. I'm just drawn to the dark colors but I don't know if that is what I'd really like best in person or just in theory. :)
@Thrakena: thanks! yea I'm not really feeling the accent wall thing but I feel like people often say "what about an accent wall" so I wanted to give it a try.
I love teal and am all for bold colors (our bedroom is a bright orangy-yellow), but for your bedroom, especially with the smaller windows, I'd go with the light blue or light green (I especially like the light blue). I agree that it makes it feel calm and peaceful
I'm *really* surprised that light blue is winning in the poll for bedroom color! It was my original thought for color of the room but once I had it "painted" I thought it was too monotone with the duvet (grey), sheets (blue), cedar chest (blue) and lamp shades (blue). The all-the-same-color thing doesn't bother anyone else?
I picked the light blue as first choice for the bedroom. I didnt' even notice all the other things were blue, but probably because I like the monotone color scheme. Now that you mention it, your furniture seems to pop a little better with the green, while still keeping a soothing fairly monotone room. I dont think you could go wrong with either.
For the liviing room, I picked dark teal accent wall. I'm scared of color and am afraid that it might be too bold for a whole room, but love it as an accent wall. Though the blue accent wall looks great too... I just thought if blue was arleady in the bedroom, then something different should be in the living room.
I'm in the minority here, but I love the purple for the bedroom. It makes it into such a warm and inviting space. The light blue is beautiful and airy (and I don't think it's too monotone because you have your dark headboard/footboard to offset the neutrals), but the purple just makes me want to jump into bed and snuggle up with a good book.
I like the pale green the best for the bedroom, followed by the teal.
For the great room, hands down the light blue, esp if you are going to keep the same sectional, the pale blue color compliments it better. Also, because of how much light you have in the great room, the light wall color just contrast so beautiful and gives a light & happy look.
I prefer the light blue in both the bedroom and the great room.
I think if you do want to use a more bold color in the great room, you should just use it as an accent wall. Otherwise, I think it makes the room seem too dark and closed off.
I love the teal and light blue. I think that purple is one of my least favorite colors in general, though. Not a purple/maroon fan. I love the teal in the bedroom for the extra pop, and the lighter blue all over in the living room with the green accent wall - really gives a great touch of color to the light-filled space.
Thank you for all of your comments! After lots and lots (and LOTS) of agonizing I am 99% sure that I am going to do a 2 tone aqua and teal and the great room and carry the aqua throughout the rest of the unpainted common spaces (hallways, stairwells, etc). Can't decide still between carrying the same 2 tone theme in the bedroom and light green... but at least I"m narrowing my choices! :)

I LOVE the teal for the bedroom. The purple is a little overwhelming, personally but I feel like the light blue is really kind of blah and safe. It's not that I'm against monotone, I dunno. I just don't care for that color. I do like the light green though.
In the great room, I really like the light blue, especially next to that green in the kitchen. Awesome combo.
First. love the house. Second, love the colors.
I vote all green in the bedroom to sorta switch it up from the two tone everywhere else
@panterapeach: thanks! that is definitely how I"m leaning right now, and for the same reason (keeping some green upstairs to relate back to the kitchen)
@zippylef: thanks!

I already posted one thread about this, but it was before I found the amazing valspar website where you can "paint" your own rooms! Let me know what you think for both our great room and our bedroom.
