I am also a wuss. I went a couple of times. UNless you get hit at close range, it doesn't hurt that badly...but otherwise, you can get some serious welts/bruises. They heal (I can't see them anymore) and I tried to hide behind every tree instead of charging ahaha but it is a rush. I prefer playing only with people I know. Try it, and worse case, you play a round and decide it's not for you :) You can always leave the field.
Depends on how close the person is that shoots u & where your getting shot...I layered up when I went so it wasnt that bad but silly me tried to block one w my open palm & that one hurt like a son of a b!tch...lol
OMG yes! I have a high tolerance for pain but when you are in a flimsy jump suit anticipating getting shot at, I think it hurts more. It didn't hurt much after the game was done but boy were my bruises ugly!!
I wish I could attached pictures of my leg! I had a big black bruise the size of my fist on my calf and another one between my shoulder blades where I had been shot blank.
You already have the Groupon, so definetly go but wear lots of layers!! If you have the option of playing in a closed course versus and open one (thinks woods instead of an open field), then pick closed course. You have a half shot of not getting as bruised when you can duck and cover versus running in the open.
It's fun! ...but be prepared to not wear shorts/dresses/skirts for the next few weekends after. Oh... and wear a baseball cap to protect your hair. The paint is really hard to get out.
This is exactly why I've never played paintball. I'm scared of getting shot and I also don't like the idea of being covered in bruises.
@Nicoso: EEEKKK!!! That is crazy!! I'm scared!!
Well, I havn't bought the groupon just yet, the special will end in a few hours, but after reading this, I'm thinking no dice...
Yep, you can get some serious bruises. Layers are your best friend, the first time I went I was wearing just a windbreaker and jeans (bad idea) so many little welts. I learned from my fashion faux pas and now I layer up before I go and no more pain just lots of fun :)
It is SO fun, but it definitely can hurt to get hit. Layer up and your body should be ok, but if you get hit in the head...ouchhhh.
@AnnieAAA: YES!!! A million times yes it freaking hurts. Despite my layered clothing I still came home with welts on my arms and legs.
That being said I have a friend that owns a local paintball/laser tag fun zone and he said that indoor paintball is the way to go. I guess they lower the speed of the guns so the paint balls don't come out as fast when you are indoors making it less painful. I haven't tried it but I might just to see if there really is a difference.
It does hurt, but it's not bad at all! And man, did I ever get some bruises. Definitely not something to do right before your wedding or a trip down South, hahaha. I say go for it! Try it at least once, you might love it! Or, my even more favourite inspirational quote: "Try it! You might hate it!"
ahhhhh...i could never do this just because of the POSSIBILITY that it may hurt. Whyyy do people want to do this if it's painful?!?! Lol
The closer they are, the more it hurts. Padding and extra layers are defintely the name of the game here.
And if you go during the winter make sure you don't keep your paintballs in the trunk the night before. From experience, those suckers hurt like heck if they freeze!
Yep, it hurts, but it's such a fun rush that it doesn't really matter. Plus, they standardize the pressure of your gun so no one's shooting you at a really high velocity (which = less painful). I say do it, it's fun!
From what I gather, yep! I’ve never actually played, though I reaaaaaally want to. DH says that after being hit once I’ll never want to play again but it looks like so much fun! Someday I’ll play and prove DH wrong. I have a much higher tolerance for pain than he gives me credit for.
Yes it hurts, but you quickly forget about it with the adrenaline of "the hunt" running through your body!
It's really not THAT bad. I went just over a year ago and was terrified. I even hid in the bushes for a while. I actually did fairly well, I did get hit once in the arm. I felt it hit and was like "What was that?" and then I realized what it was LOL
I had a sweatshirt on so that probably helped. My biggest problem was that it started raining and my goggles fogged up.
It hurts a bit, but it's really really fun. :) The only really bad welts I got were from some jerk who didnt get bunker rules and shot me from like, 5 feet away.

I got a groupon today for half off a paintball session for 2 people & with my husband's birthday coming up, I thought that this sounds like fun!
BUT, I am sensative to pain & pretty much a wuss, and I have heard that paintballs hurt. Have any of you been paintballing? Does it hurt?
