    Hi everyone!

I found some inexpensive (but pretty) metal candle holders that I would like to use as part of our wedding decor.  The only problem is they are black, and I would prefer them to be gold.  I bought them with the intention of painting them, but I am having a difficult time finding a pretty shade of gold paint that will work on metal.

I have tried several varieties of spraypaint, but they either weren't the right shade (I am looking for a "soft" gold) or else they didn't stick very well to the metal.  Any suggestions at all would be helpful.  Thanks!!!

i would use primer that works for metal things first and then you can probably use any kind of paint.

Lindsy, I think you are probably right.  I was hoping I could find something that would let me skip the primer, but it doesn't look that way.  Thanks for the suggestion!

If you have a Lowes near you they carry this awesome spray paint called Valspar Premium. This stuff sticks to anything! I used it to paint some porcelain pieces and it did the trick.  It comes in all kinds of colors and finishes from flat to gloss. Here is a link. Hope this helps!

if the valspar (really good spray paint) doesn't work, a primer or (worse) sanding might help. just a light sanding with 200 grit sandpaper would rough up the surface enough to get the paint to stick.
