Hello there –
I am new to this site as I have just gotten engaged. We are an interracial couple, with different religious backgrounds, Bride (pakistani “muslim”) and groom (indian “hindu”). However, neither of us really practice and are spiritually the same in our views. We both want to have a destination wedding, possibly california coast. I do love our culture and want to incorporate some of the traditional aspects. I will be starting my search for a traditional pakistani wedding outfit and making arrangements for makeup, photo, etc. once the date is set. I would love to hear if anyone else has been through this and may have ideas/recommendations/contact out in california. We’re looking into to Malibu area, possibly a beach wedding but open right now to what works best.

Congrats on your engagement! I think that cross-cultural weddings are fabulous because it is the joining together of two different cultures as well as families…which is why I specialize in it. I have done several destination weddings and having one in Malibu is a great idea! Here are some suggestions:
Malibu Ceremony Sites….
- Leo Carrillo State Beach (you can have both ceremony/reception here)
- Malibu Nature Preserve
- Villa Della Glori
- Wright Center
- Calamigos Ranch
- The Enchanted Sea Cottage (great view of ocean..gardens and etc)
- Adamson House Museum (great beachfront location…can use for reception)
- Sunset Resturant & Beach
- El Matador State Beach
- Nicholas Canyon Beach
Malibu Reception Sites…..
- Duke’s Resturant (great ocean, coastline, and light city views)
- Renaissance Agoura Hills Hotel
- North Ranch Center
- Hyatt Westlake Village
- Malibu West Beach Club
- Richardson & Co.
We have lots of contacts with cake, DJ, and etc if you want those information just let me know. Hope this helps! Happy Planning!

- Wedding: March 2010 - Calamigos Ranch
Congratulations! The Sunset Restaurant is particularly good if you’d like to have your ceremony on the beach–Duke’s Malibu doesn’t have beach access (they do have ceremony space, though; it’s just indoors in front of the picture windows–although if you’re having a small enough wedding it might not work for you).
In any event I am planning something somewhat similar so if you have specific questions later maybe I can help answering!
