@JRL2012: I am super pale and tried to use a spray tan but it did rub off on my clothes. I heard great things about St Tropez mousse so I tried that. It didn't patch and didn't come off on my super white wedding dress. It was a hot day when we got married and I was sweating quite a bit but not one bit rubbed off. I only applied two light coats over two days and it looked very natural - no smell either. Hope that helps.
You might want to consider going to a tanning bed. I know even if I put sunblock on I will burn if I'm in a sunny area and haven't had any exposure to sun yet. A few trips to the tanning bed before I go helps that, and gives me a little color. Also you might want to try the "double dip", where you go to a regular bed and then a spray tan. I've never had a problem with the spray on rubbing off, but I haven't had much luck with the at home methods.
Good luck!
I really like the St. Moriz mousse. It's the generic (cheaper) version of the St. Tropez brand, but it works so great. I apply at night before bed and then wash any remaining product off my skin in the shower in the morning.
Just thought I should mention that I have an olive skin tone.
I highly recommend getting a professional airbrush tan (where a technician sprays you, not a machine). I do not tan at all, but I was going to jamaica and wanted to look sun-kissed. It looked perfectly natural, did not come off on any of my clothing and it lasted 2 weeks! It cost about $60 and it was completely worth it.
@BayStateBride: I tried this once but with being so pale it made me super dark (I looked REALLY tanned). Gutted as it is so much cheaper than St Tropez.
I will try all of these ideas! I'm going to try before the wedding just so I have a idea of what it looks like since I've never done it before. Thanks for all the great advice bees!
@DeathByDesign: Did the sand take some off on your legs or anything? That's something I'm really worried about.
@BayStateBride: Skin ton is great too know! I'm pink haha
@Natalieh86: Tanning beds still don't give me color! I'm meant to be the color of paper I guess haha
@skyeatnight: Do you know where I can buy this? I def want to try it!
@JRL2012: You can buy St Tropez mousse absolutely anywhere. The bottle is plain white with St Tropex written in black on it (very basic looking). I did A LOT of research on this before I even bought my first bottle in advance of the wedding. I still wear it now as I like a sutble glow :) Expensive but worth it and the bottle lasts you 6 months. Forgot to mention that it's the Everyday Gradual Tan Mousse you're looking for :) Love the stuff.

I used L'Oreal Sublime Bronze. Looks like brown jiz going on but it works great and isn't stinky.
@skyeatnight: 6 months?! that's crazy good! I'm ordering it today haha
@daybyday: Does that one rub off? Just wondering haha
@JRL2012: Let me know how you get on with it. I bought the huge bottle right before my wedding in August and I apply it once a week - it's not even a quarter empty!
Get a proffesional spray tan the day before or 2 days before your wedding, get a trial done a few weeks before.
You generally leave the tan on for 8 hours then shower, this will stp it gettin on your clothes.
then buy a bottle of st Tropez mouse to take on your hols to keep the colour going,
I had a spray tan and none went on my dress, (actually i get them all the time) and this is how it looked.
I got an airbrush tan before the wedding. It looked SUPER natural, and not too dark. I did get really sweat at one point during the reception, and the inside of my dress is now sort of tinted bronze...but whatevs, it didnt run or anything on my skin.
@skyeatnight: I will def let you know! thank you so much for th advice!
@simpleandchic: That looks very natural! It's just what I want. Thank you for the picture!
@pinkandsparkly: That's the part I'm scraed of! It being on my dress :/
@JRL2012: nothing took it off, it lasted 2 weeks no problem :)
I use self tanners a lot, and I think you have to practice a few times before your big day because practice makes perfect. Exfoliate and shave/wax before tanning but don't moisturise. Then apply and blend, blend, blend using smooth motions (even the spray on ones must be blended properly). Self tanners shouldn't come off on your clothes (I've never had that happen even with cheap brands), you just have to wait about 45 minutes for it to dry properly before getting dressed, wear loose clothing and try not to shower or sweat for at least 12 to 18 hours. I would suggest applying about a week before your wedding, then re-applying 2 days or so before the day. Scrub your hands PROPERLY afterwards. Use a color that suits your skin tone (I like light-medium) and use products with smaller amounts of self tanner. I'm currently in love with the Piz Buin range.
@allihappy: Thank you! I'm actually not using it for the wedding... just the honeymoon haha. I like being pale... just not pale in a bikini! In the wedding dress I'll be fine. I'm going to apply it the next day before the honeymoon :)
You can get a Mystic spray tan which is actually a clear solution. It won't rub off. But, I've never had my spray tan rub off on my clothes afterwards!

So I'm SUPER pale(red head mom) and I'm going tropical for the honeymoon. I don't know how to get at least a tint that will last. My wedding is 2 days before we leave and I don't want fake tan on my dress either. Does anyone know of something I can do to not be blinding people on the beach?
I heard a spray tan will rub off... is that true? Help please :)
