@Someday_Mrs_Maguire:  I need to know this too! My ering’s platinum, but palladium is sooo much more affordable!

@Someday_Mrs_Maguire:  The ering is platinum and the wedbands are palladium. (The wedding band looks kinda black, that’s just the light) They are very, very similar in color. You really cant tell the difference. Right now (3+ years later), the platinum is a slightly darker shade of gray. But unless you stop and really stare at it, you cant tell the difference.

Just keep in mind that plat and pall both get matte with age. (Unlike white gold which stays shiney) The metals get microscopic scratches in it. But unlike gold (which loses microscopic amounts over time), you dont lose and P&P, the metal just gets pushed around. If you want, the jeweler can rebuff the rings, pushing the metal back into place, and the rings get shiney again.

@Someday_Mrs_Maguire:  They dont scratch each other any more than they get “scratched” from everyday life. You dont want to get one gold ring + Plat or Pall. The gold is softer than the plat/pall and could be damaged. But Plat and Pall are about the same hardness, so they dont damage each other.

If you look at the pic with the ivory background. The ering still looks shiny. It’s not any more (I had it rebuffed that week). It now looks like the right side of the smaller wedband, almost that exact shade too. My wedband now is just a shade lighter than the ering, but again, the difference is so small. If my ering band was wider, you *might* notice a difference.

Thank you, I love my ring too! 🙂 It’s a Tacori. I wanted palladium, but it only comes in gold or platinum. The stone is a 1ct (size) CZ. If you want to save money, CZs are great and no one can tell the difference!

@Someday_Mrs_Maguire:  FI is having his band custom made using dark palladium and regular platinum so he can get a two tone look that is permanent. It will look similar to this ring
