Bump. I'm planning on doing panel pockets too and would love to see what other brides have done.
I've given it a go. Check out my other post where I've put up a few pics:

thanks for posting! Looks like a great alternative to regular pocketfolds, I'm going to look into these now. You've done a fab job with yours so far!!
I'm doing these too with a Michaels kit so I'll be lurking around this board for the next few days... Mine need sent out soon so I'll post the final product.
I really want to do pocket invitations, and plan to have them printed at cardsandpockets.com (unless someone has another suggestion). My problem is that I am having THE HARDEST time finding a design for our "elegant/summer/tropical" themed wedding in June. Anyone have any ideas?? I getting SO frustrated!
I ordered card stock and made mine, and honestly I think I saved about $15 bucks for like 5 hours of work, definitely not worth it (compared to what paperandmore.com charges for their lower end pockets). Definitely shop around, compare costs, and then see if you'll save enough $$ to make it worth your time. It's always a nice feeling to be able to make stuff, but for me, just assembling/designing the invites would have been enough of a DIY without making the pockets.
In case you do what to try what I did, I bought the 11x17 cardstock, turned it horizontally and cut up about 5.5 inches, over about 2 inches, and up another 5.5 inches, or something like that (may want to double check that). It was a bit complicated, but that way the bottom of the pocket is still attached and needs less glueing. No overlaping fold on these though.
Thanks so much Grumpy Pumpkin. That is really good to know. What did you price your invitations against?
So far, the hardest part has been finding the digital design to send to get printed. Anyone have ideas of where to find this?
Thank you! :)
@slonelm: I made my design in illustrator using bits and pieces of vector art I found online. How are you trying to design yours?

have you made your own panel pockets for your invitations? I'm thinking about it but would love to see how everyone else's have turned out. I'd like to use the wood grain paper ... but not sure beyond that.
Post pics of yours! Give us a tutorial or measurements, or any other tips or ideas that you have if you've DIY-ed panel pocket invites!
