@MommaJenn28:  LoL – I thought I was the only one who thought this way! We have a budget of $15K as well. My mom was very generous to pay for the reception hall. However, we have gone over the 150 people guest list. We now have a list of 208 people if they all come. So I am freaking out about how much we will be over budget. Like you, we are not charging out credit cards. I have paid for my share, my fiance has all his money set aside, just waiting for the next few weeks to come to pay his share.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

I know the feeling. So a few days ago I crunched a few numbers and we are managing to stay under (even though the dress slot was a lot more expensive including alterations). It will work out just fine 🙂

@MommaJenn28:  aaahhh! you are going to loveeee the Bahamas!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

We are going to Paris & Spain, we made sure to set a lot of our budget aside for the honeymoon because we wanted to splurge on that. I cannot wait. We are going to be in Paris for 3 nights and Spain for 7 nights.

Congrats, and don’t panic. Your day will be amazing!

I’m at this point, too. FI’s family gets pissed at me every time I say that we should have eloped, but they gave his brother $10k for his wedding (for which he and the bride invited EVERYONE they’d ever met and had two receptions!) and have given us a couple thousand dollars. We’ve got $3k left to pay, and I am just about tapped out. No idea what his accounts look like. FFIL said he’s giving us another $1000, and FMIL said she was paying for our flowers, but our flowers are ~$200 (though she wants me to spend more…honestly, flowers are the very last thing on my mind). I wish he would just ASK her how much she is looking to give us, because we’re coming down to the wire here. FI said he’d rather just pull the money from his stocks, which frustrates me to no end.

We can’t even afford a honeymoon right now. His brother went to fucking Hawaii for a week.

@MommaJenn28:  I am feeling your pain and also in freak out mode. 67 days til we’re married, and we owe on a few things still. Probably a total of under $3k, but its still a big chunk when your still paying all your other bills. Our parents arent in a position to help and Im just feeling really overwhelmed. Its like the last few months before the wedding when you wish you could just be happy and carefree theres even more concerns. Its tough. PLUS….al the little things add up. Dress alterations, hair and makeup, bridal party gifts, the list goes on and on 🙁

@MommaJenn28:  He wouldn’t be pulling much, and we’ll be able to start throwing money in there once I’m in a better job (and doubly so when he’s done with school), but we’re going to have to. There’s no other way that we can pay for the rest of this without being dead broke afterward.

@Araya: @MommaJenn28:  I’m in WA too!! I think we need a WA August Bee meetup!

Anyways, we were very fortunate to get a lot of help from both sets of parents (really it’s almost an even split between FI’s and my savings, my parents’, and his parents’ contributions), but I was looking at our wedding savings account last night and I said to FI that it’s pretty depressing that nearly all of those thousands of dollars are going to be spent on ONE day when there are so many things we could use that money for at our house that we would be able to enjoy for years.

The panic for me set in last Saturday when our ceremony venue coordinator emailed me and THREE other brides who are all getting married there on August 10th. They pretty much booked the venue back-to-back for 4 weddings and I had no idea that there was going to be even one other wedding there that day. We booked so far in advance. I felt totally blindsided and we will have literally no wiggle room for time. I’m REALLY glad we hired a day-of coordinator now to keep us on schedule!!
