My period is due today or tomorrow and no sign – no spotting (which I normally have) except for some implantation bleeding last week (I assumed).
On saturday morning at about 15 DPO I POAS and had a faint line. all day felt morning sickness, etc. Sunday, morning, POAS, a slightly less faint line (wasn’t my first morning pee though) and felt moody/backachy.
This morning I POAS and I have the faintest of lines (like a total squinter). After I peed I thought maybe I hadn’t quite left it in for 5 seconds and was wondering if it would work… But yeah, veryyyy faint line.
Now I’m freaking out and can’t go back to sleep because I feel like I lost it or something happened 🙁 Still no sign of blood though… I was very bloated all night and felt my stomach moving around and it was worrying me (because I’m a worrier, obviously) but that’s the only thing unusual.
Help…Does anyone know what this means…

Im really sorry you are going through this!
I know its the last thing u want to hear but it could be a chemical pregnancy. Ive been through it myself and I didnt get my period until several days after I stopped getting BFPs.
Good luck, sending hugs your way!

It could be a few things. Your urine could have been diluted, the dye in the test just might not be dark, or you could be having a chemical Pregnancy. you can always hold your pee for 4 hrs(or longer if you can) without drinking a ton… And retest to see if it changes things…

Call your doctor and ask if they will do an HCG test to see if it is rising or falling.

krystalite: any line no matter what faintness means you’re pregnant. Like PP said, it could be a variation in the dye lots of the tests, it could be due to dilute urine or unfortunately it can mean a chemical pregnancy or very very early miscarriage. The only way to know is to wait it out… Even a blood test result wouldnt tell you much more than you already know. You’d need at least two blood draws 48 hrs apart to tell you if your levels are rising normally. Try to relax and think positive. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Everything graygodess20 said. I have had two early losses and found out both times because of non-progressing (and then regressing) FRERs. There ARE other reasons why this happens, but in the very beginning two days should mean doubled HCG… So if two days later your line is significantly lighter than Saturday, well… I’m very sorry 🙁 You should obviously confirm with HCG tests. Tell them about the regressing pregnancy tests. Mine sent me in for bloodwork as soon as I told them.
FYI, for me, I didn’t start bleeding until a few days after I saw my HCG falling on FRER, both times.

thanks everyone… not what I wanted to hear, but it all makes sense.
Andthepupmakes3 & mrsfang: when you had chemical pregnancies, did you also have pregnancy symptoms? I had them really bad on saturday (it wasn’t in my head) but then yesterday I wasn’t as sick feeling. Could that be due to hormone levels dropping as well?
do you know if chemical pregnancies are common? i just looked it up and they say 50-60% of first time pregnancies are chemical. don’t you think FR would put that on the box….? also from what i’ve seen on the boards here, chem. pregnancies don’t seem very common – normally when somebody gets a faint positive they are happy and everything seems good.
if i had known more about the possibility of CP, i wouldn’t have gotten my hopes up, that’s for sure…

I would make an appointment with your doctor.

krystalite: Chemical pregnancies are actually pretty common. What typically happens is that people never knew they were pregnant in the first place, so they just get their period and move on as normal so it probably doesn’t seem like a lot of people get them. Thats kind of the down side for testing super early.
Any way I hope this isn’t the case for you, I would just get a blood test. They will test you twice and see if the HG is rising or falling. Good luck, I hope you just had a faulty test.

Chemical pregnancies are very common. It’s an early miscarriage. Many people don’t even realize they’re pregnant because they just assume their period was a few days off. If I hadn’t been testing I would have assumed the same with mine, since my period is often irregular.
I would definitely call your doctor and explain what is happening. They should run a blood test today and then another in 48 hours to see if the numbers are rising properly or not.

Boxerlover24: Westwood: thanks. it’s a holiday here in canada today but my doctor has a walk-in clinic on tuesday mornings, so i will see her tomorrow. also re: chem pregnancies being common…hmm… i guess i will not test early next time then (if I am in fact having a miscarriage now). it’s wayyy too disappointing…

krystalite: chemical pregnancies are said to be very common…they often can happen before or around your period, so a lot of women wouldn’t have even known they were pregnant (as PP said, that would be a downside of testing really early). But as far as the symptoms, they can come and go. I had symptoms one day and not the next and it wasn’t until about 8 weeks along where I symptoms every day. I would call your Dr. and talk to them. good luck!

krystalite: my second time I had A LOT of preg symptoms. My nausea was very strong (never vom’d but was on the brink several times a day) but I had positive tests for almost two weeks before I lost the pregnancy. I could only eat saltines and other bland carbs for that week and a half. It made me feel super pregnant and much better than the first time it happened. However, one day I woke up feeling better than I had in days, and freaked. Then I POAS and it was no darker than the day before, and MAYBE just a touch lighter- but I knew better than to compare 1 test to another with just a day between them. The next day it was again lighter, and that combined with my lessoned symptoms meant what I’d been afraid of. I’m so sorry this might be happening to you, but again I would say you still need another day of testing or blood hcg to confirm.

Andthepupmakes3: thanks for the info. that sounds so awful. ugh…
i have one more test here, i was going to wait 4 hours and not drink (so test again in about an hour) as a PP recommended and try again just to see if i did in fact not pee enough on it the first time.. but i also don’t want to waste the test (they are damn $$$$)…
then again it’s driving me mad…THEN AGAIN… if i see another faint squinter line it will make me feel sad all over again…

I am just so, so sorry to hear this. I know it’s not time for condolences yet, but I was in your shoes back in July. I scoured the Internet for stories like this that had happy endings, and while a few are out there, it’s good to prepare yourself for the possibility that this is an early loss. :-/
Mine happened over the weekend. First faint BFP on a Friday, went in Monday, hCG was 30. On Wednesday, only 14. I started bleeding that day.
