Yes, definitely wear pantyhose! I hate them so much, but I’m so pasty that i look ridiculous in photos without them

I’m a firm believer that quality hose make legs look much better for dressy occasions than bare. Kate middleton wears them – need i say more?! 🙂

@kansas_nurse:  warning, my comment isn’t going to be helpful at all 😉 I’m not an English native so I’m just curious – I thought tights and pantyhose were synonymous but quite apparently that’s not the case. Would you explain the difference to me? Sheerness? Thickness? Color? Thanks 🙂

@kansas_nurse:  Wear pantyhose — I do all the time.  My favorite brand is DIM (I often get them from The Bay department store).  They are amazing and photograph well — that is you can’t tell which is what you want.

I wouldn’t wear pantyhose that make your legs look darker. I think it might look strange if your legs are darker than your face/neck.

sally hansen sells “airbrush legs”. i’ve used it before, it worked pretty well. i’m the queen of pale, so if i’m wearing a dress in the summer, i sometimes like a bit of color.

I would try some gradual tanning moisturizer.  I don’t recall the name of the higher end one  I used to use, but I know Jergen’s makes one, too.   If you must go with pantyhose, I’d get something really, really sheer like DKNY Nude collection. TBH,  I’d try to avoid hose.   I’m guessing that Kate M. only does the hose thing because she feels she has to, not because she really wants to.

I agree with what some people say about the tanning products! you could also go get a level 1 spray tan maybe 2 days before your pictures.

@MsquareM:  Tights and pantyhose are the same thing. We call ’em tights here in the UK, in the US they are usually called pantyhose.

@MsquareM:  pantyhose are often more sheer, and thin/lightweight. they are mostly just in nude or black tones. tights are often a little thicker and not see through. they also come in many different colors, fabrics, textures and prints!

@MrsBeck:  this. If you’re pale then you’re pale. I can ALWAYS tell when someone has on a “nude” colored pantyhose especially if it isn’t as light (or dark) as their skintone.

@Steampunkbride:  interesting that that’s how they are refered to in the UK! most Americans consider pantyhose and tights different things.

@MsquareM:  Tights are opaque/thicker, and panyhose are sheer. I’ve always considered tights a fashion item, while pantyhose are a formal item.
