I am having an at home reception a week after our small beach ceremony. The reception will be nautical themed. We have decided which route we want to go for the food… either bbq or seafood: shrimp, mahi-mahi, perhaps lobster, etc. Or, would BBQ be a valid alternative for people who do not like seafood? We could do both – would that be awkward?
I know there is a vast difference between the two options, and it will really decide if the entire event is fancy and casual, but I’d like general thoughts on using paper for the cups/napkins and perhaps a heavy plastic for the plates.
I’m thinking along these lines:

I think maybe a ‘surf and turg’ combo for the food would be good and those napkins are totally adorable! Love it! And th cups! Perfect!

I think doing a bit of both would cover all your bases, and those cups are really cute.

Thanks soo much! I fell in love with the cups and napkins when I saw them. lol.
I’m a little worried if the seafood will go with bbq or if I need to do a meat that’s a little more… like, well, chicken. lol.

Well, only you know your guests preferences.
We’re planning a 4-course plated brunch but we’ve got such a small guest list that I’m pretty confident about what people will and won’t eat.
If you (or your caterer) have some marinated chicken breasts on hand for any picky eaters, they could go on the grill and be done in no time.
