A friend of mine is using the Martha Stewart paper flower kits to make all the bouquets for the bridal party and they are sooo pretty! Time-consuming tho so if you're going to use them for centerpieces, I would start soon. Definitely worth it tho, if you can swing it!
I bought a a Mini Magnolia flower kit from Paper Source (http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/kits/flower-kits.html). I used it to figure out how to make the flowers and trace the petals. It's extremely time consuming, but I love the way they look!
My colors are navy blue and ivory, so I bought pretty ivory and blue patterned and solid paper. If you go with one of their Paper Source flower kits, I'd recommend opting out of the mini-sized flowers. :)

So it looks as if the majority of our budget will be going towards the ceremony/reception venue (i.e. meal, appetizers, open bar, rental chairs, etc...). I'm starting to freak out about my budget and how we're going to save all the money before now and the time it's due (2nd week of July). In an effort to streamline my concerns, I'm trying to come up with easy DIY projects that I can do to cut costs elsewhere. I've already decided to make silk flower bouquets but was wondering what to do about my centerpieces. I have seen Martha Stewart's paper flower kit and think they look really pretty. My idea is to save up coffee cans (I run through a can of a coffee each week!), wrap them in fabric which goes with my colors, and stick some paper flowers in them. Voila.
OK- I'm a girl that can't even draw a stick person. Seriously... my creative bone is one I was not born with. So taking on these DIY projects is a challenge. But if it means saving money, I'm all for it! Do any of you know of websites or tutorials that can lead me through making paper flowers? Have any of you done them for your wedding and how did they turn out?
I've seen a few websites out there... but wanted to hear if any of you had done the same thing. I'd love to figure out how to make paper ranunculus or peonies.
Thanks for your input!
