Is it crazy to go without real or silk flowers at a wedding? I have this idea in my head to use paper flowers but don’t know if it is insane. I have never been a flowers kind of gal. If given the choice between flowers or chocolates, I will always choose chocolates. I kill all plants, including succulents and cactus, and have no interest in growing/maintaining/keeping anything green-related.
Don’t get me wrong. I love nature. I love trees. I think flowers are pretty but I don’t care to work/design/deal with it whatsoever especially since previous experiences dealing with florists at weddings (my own from the 1st marriage, and two others as Maid/Matron of Honor and BM) were not good. Anyway, below are some examples I was thinking of. They are all paper flowers.
My theme is Mexican/Spanish in a rustic vintage farmhouse setting. The wedding will be small and intimate. The reception will be Fiesta-like. I envision bright, festive and vibrant colors and think these will work well.
This is from a real wedding I found online and is the basis for my inspiration. I love it!![attachment=1126399,141800]
I was thinking of using these on the wedding arbor
I was thinking of using this as my bouquet
More swag for the arbor

It’s not my personal taste…but they are festive and your theme!

@mrsv2be: Festive was exactly what I was going for! =) As a matter of fact I am thinking of adding “Outdoor fiesta to follow” on my invitations and liken the reception to a Fiesta complete with an on-site cooked taco bar and frozen Margaritas instead of champagne.

When it comes down to it, there will be people who will love your awesome ideas and people who will dislike them. In the end, it is YOUR wedding and you should do what makes you happy! 🙂

I htink paper flowers will go great with your theme! Have you been to La Placita Olvera in LA? They sell them there but you can probably DIY for cheaper

I am so happy to hear that some people think it will work. So I might not be totally insane…haha!
@KIKI82: I have not heard of that place but will keep it in mind. I think it is worth a quick trip to check it out. THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION!!

LOVE the Mexican paper flowers! Reminds me of when I was little and we’d go to Laredo and my mom always bought me some. The fluffier ones are pretty easy to make yourself, I remember making them in elementary school more than once. The more formed ones, I don’t know, but I live in So. Texas and they are cheap and abundant! The more formed ones are like what I see made into gorgeous head wreaths at Fiesta time with ribbons down the back.
I seriously considered paper flowers. I would do paper flowers myself (albeit in a different style, something like this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4OMet90s2xc/SbQ6AiCg8bI/AAAAAAAABRs/edYQs_qN11o/s320/paper+flower+bouquet.JPG ) but I’m too lazy, plus we are marrying in another state and I don’t want to worry about anything getting smushed in transit.
I think a mix of both would be nice too but if you only want paper then I see no reason not to go all-paper! Plus, if you are sentimental, you can save your bouquet much easier than if it were real flowers!
