I’m trying to order paper lanterns online but am confused by sizing (not helped by my complte lack of spacial judgment).
Is 12″ the radius, diameter or circumferencee size? I want lanterns around or a little larger than the size of a basketball (I think). Does that seem right for a barn that hold 140 ppl? I have such a terrible sense of space and size!!! If anyone has photos showing a particular size next to something I’d recognize (like a ball or a head), it would probably be most helpful!

If you want the size around a baseball you want the 8″ its the closest without being too small like the 3″.. I found the 3’s too small 8 was small but not too much.. I just purchased 9 Paper lanterns.. I did a combo… I did 8″, 16″ and 20″

12″ is the diameter. You probably will need 12″, 16″ or 20″.

FYI- If anyone is looking for bright colors-hot pink, lime, purple, orange, red, Hobby Lobby has a 3 pack of paper lanterns in their garden party section for $6.99! And they are 40% off every few weeks. I keep sending FH to buy all the hot pink and red ones when they are on sale! They are various sizes per pack too which I think is cute. Happy lanterning!!!

I have a 40×60 tent that we haveto decorate and we’re getting 14″, 16″ and a few 20″ if that helps you. I think the 8″ and 12″ are a little smallbut that’s just my opinion 😉 good luck!

One thing to think about is whether you will light them, and if so, how. I’m not an expert on the physics of this, but if you go from an 8″ paper lantern to a 16″, you need way more than double the amount of light.
At our wedding, we had 8″, 10″, and 18″ lanterns. See picture, below. This link has information on how we lit each size.

do you want to sell them after the wedding?
