My wedding is a month away now and I would love your decor advice!
Since we first started wedding planning, I have loved the idea of paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling in our reception space. I just love the way paper lanterns look in pictures.
However, we were visiting our venue (a ranch) yesterday to try to start wrapping up our decor plans, and now I’m not sure that paper lanterns will really add anything to our reception space. There are already chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Our coordinator suggested putting paper lanterns in the fireplaces in our reception room, as an alternative.
Here are a couple of pictures of our reception room (from other people’s weddings). What do you think? Would paper lanterns add anything to the space we are working with, or should we just leave as is? Any decor suggestions are appreciated! We are going with wooden flower boxes for centerpieces, and our colors are mint and peach, if that helps contextualize the look we will be going for a little more.

I would leave it as is, or add string lights criss crossing the room. I think lanterns would take away from the pretty chandelieres.

I don’t think they’d work with the chandeliers, but what about if you put the lanterns up outside? like leading to the reception space from the parking lot or something? that is of course, as long as it isn’t raining/snowing…

Paper laterns are gonna make your room space seem smaller. Also youve got those beautiful chandelier which are going to be swamped with paper laterns … too much going on

I don’t really think paper lanterns go with that space

I think the space is a bit t formal and the ceilings aren’t high enough. But I agree with PP that strings of fairy lights could work.

Just strings of lights would be much more glamorous!

I agree with strings of lights. Paper lanterns will take away from the space

Thank you so much everyone for your input! I am going to scratch the paper lanterns and look into getting some fairy lights 🙂
