I would recommend China Town in Toronto. I found that after shipping most of the online companies work out to about the same as actually going and getting them yourself.
You'll have to bargan and pay cash, but we found 8 & 12 inch lanterns for $2.45 each.
Check out PaperLanternStore.com or AsianIdeas.com. One or the other of those was typically the least expensive choice--which one depended on the size and type of lantern I was looking for.
@kermie : Wow! That's cheap! Unfortunately I'm about 8 hours at LEAST away from Toronto, but I may have to send a friend down there on a mission!
@2dBride : Thanks, I will check those out!
ebay has them for less than $1....just put in your search criteria
@blondilocks : Thanks! I can't believe I didn't think of that. I found a seller and bought one for a total of $1.80 incl. shipping, so I'm going to check it out and see how it is!
LunaBazaar.com has a bazillion colors, if you are looking to match something specific. I just ordered parasols from there.
I bought my lannterns on here from another Bee and got a great deal, but the paperlanternstore.com has lots of options for great prices!!
I bought mine from a wholesaler and got a really good deal on them. I also ordered chargers and some other decorative items. Check out www.koyalwholesale.com

I actually want the round paper lanterns for something non-wedding related, but I figured this would be the best place to ask about where to buy them! I'm thinking preferably an online source, but even if anyone knows of larger Canadian retailers that sell them, great!
Thanks hive!
