I think I bought the exact same numbers you're talking about! we're also using these as our table numbers and I'm sort of in the same boat as you regarding how to get the numbers to stay up. I actually got the idea from the flush designs blog: http://flushdesigns.blogspot.com/2009/05/yia-sals-soft-seaside-wedding-paper.html
If you scroll down you can see what they did with the numbers... they sort of propped them up against the vases, etc. that they had on the table, which is what I might do. Otherwise you could probably glue them to something that's flat and wide on the bottom. Our wedding is seaside/beach themed so I considered gluing one of the numbers to a sand dollar (not sure if that'll even work yet
). Depending on your theme you could try to think of something creative to glue them to so they'll stand up on their own.
ha! I saw that exact same picture when I was trying to explain to my mom what it would look like! I love the sand dollar idea! our only thought so far was a flat piece of wood but good idea to try to think of something ready-made. the only other idea I've had so far was using a little dowel through the back to prop them up like a picture frame. does that make sense?
i'm thinking about doing the paper mache table numbers as well but haven't actually purchased them yet. Any advice?? How did all of your projects turn out? And where did you find was the cheapest place to purchase the numbers??
Thanks!!!
I bought them online from a craft company that was going out of business, so they were super on sale. But they turned out great. We spray painted them and then my dad cut wooden bases for them and attached them with a nail and hot glue. we gave each digit it's own base so they'd be easier to pack in a box and not so big.

I just ordered some 8" paper mache table numbers that we will paint either gold or black and that we want to sit on the table in front of the centerpiece. they're about 1" to 1 1/2 " in depth and I do not reallly want to lean them on anything. my question: how do we get them to stand up on their own? particularly funny numbers like '7' ? some kind of wooden base? wire? anyone have any ideas? :)
