ok, i lied. the class is $55, which is still way cheaper than hiring someone!
I took a calligraphy class in college and it was super tough, but I loved it! The class was full of art kids who were super awesome at it and ME, a writer with limited artistic ability!!
That sounds like a blast though, I would love to touch up on my skills!
i just got the email announcement for it. they are offering two types of classes right now. the first is with a chizled point pen (classic calligraphy) and traditional writing (this class is on the 19th)
the second class is artistic calligraphy - using a pointed pen and more stylish techniques (like what paper source uses as their fonts). i like this style better, personally and its more popular these days and easier to learn.
the classes should fill up soon, so Im sure they'll be adding more classes as they're needed.

I just found out that the Ppaer Source in Carlsbad is offering a calligraphy class for the DIY girls!
Its March 26th from 6-8 (natrually, the same night FI bought tickets to the symphony, so i cant go
).
i believe you just contact the store if you would like to take the class. their classes arent expensive (like $25-30) which is WAY cheaper than hiring a calligrapher!
their store number is 760-942-0400 if you want to sign up for the class!
