- Wedding: September 2013
My mom asked me to send her the links to things that I wanted for the wedding and among those was black linen napkins. It seems like almost everything I say I want or like, she wants/likes the opposite.
Our tablecloths are Oasis Teal, and will have a B&W damask runner. Plates are black. Centerpieces are white rose half pomanders on eiffel tower vases + candles. Our wedding is an evening/night indoor wedding and my parents, as well as FI and I are contributing to the total cost of it all.
My idea: Black linen napkins on the tables with cute pearl napkin rings (I will make). We’ll have paper napkins at the bar and buffet.
Mom’s idea: To roll the silverware in “nice” white paper napkins and make a black paper ring on it with our wedding monogram and place this rolled silverware on top of the black plate. She thinks the black will be too dark, people will throw away the napkin, or the pearl napkin ring.
I told her I still wanted linen, not paper, because it is formal and if it was a problem we would pay for them…but that we could use the white (trying to compromise) linen napkins but instead of rolling the silverware, we could have them folded like a pocket for the silverware and place it on top of the black plate.
However, she is still pushing her paper napkin idea.
What do you bees think?
I’m so incredibly stressed out right now with work I can’t even believe I’m arguing over napkins with my mom. :/
