I’m getting ready to order supplies for my invitations. I did a rough mock-up of what I want with regular copy paper and some acrylic paint. Here’s what I’m going for:
I know it’s rough, but bear with me. 🙂
I’m at a bit of a loss for the heaviness of the paper. Do you think 65# cardstock will be okay for a notecard invite? I’m not finding a lot of selection from 65#-80#, and I’m afraid the 80 will be too stiff for what I’m going for here.

I went to staples the other day 65# really didn’t feel that thick/heavy to me. I didn’t look at 80, but I bought 110 and 110 is a good thickness (I used it for my menu’s). I think you should be fine with either. I would say go to Staples or Office Depot. A lot of the times packages will be open, if not ask someone if you could feel the paper thickness.
