(Closed) parasols with or without bouquets?

I don’t think you’re “supposed” to do anything. It’s about what you want.

Mine only carried the parasols. Honestly, I don’t know how they would do both; it would require one hand on each and I think that would be a bit much. It looks nicer when they have both hands on the parasol, IMHO.

I do think sometimes brides get the parasols as photo props, and the maids still carry just their bouquets when they walk down the aisle. But the parasols are really enough, and they make for great photos. Here’s one of my favorites during the recessional. (My MOH in front carried a bouquet, no parasol.)

Were the pictures you saw of the actual ceremony? I wonder if they might have had parasols just as props for phots. As a bridesmaid, I think it would be much easier to just  carry one or the other. I think parasols would be beautiful and totally fun!

@yaneres: And you’re right that it saves a ton of money! Those parasols were maybe $6-$7 each… even an inexpensive bouquet would be at least five times that much.
