I danced with my dad to Loudon Wainwright's "Daughter" and we got so many compliments on the song the whole evening. It is a beautiful, sweet song.
My husband danced with his mom to Van Morrison's "Have I Told You Lately." I think he finally decided on his song 2 days before the wedding!
Highly recommend Paul Simon's "Father and Daughter" is touching without being sappy - and it has a good beat for dancing.
I really struggled with the mother-son song (and FI was no help) - "Wink and Smile" was the best I could come up with. Not too mushy ;)
"What a Wonderful World." It's 2.5 minutes... which is pretty quick. My dad was a wreck when we danced, he was crying so hard he couldn't speak. 2 and a half minutes was plenty :)
My Fiance is dancing to his mom to Boyz to Men, "A song for Momma"....not my favorite. I was really pulling for Shinedowns "Simple Man". :)
And I am not doing a dance with my father, I have prepared a slideshow (surprise).... :)
And congrats kyliehurst! I am also getting married October 11! :) It's a good day!
(although kansas is calling for rain on that day....) eek!
We did "What a Wonderful World" as well and I loved it! We did both dances at the same time like you want to do and I'm glad we did it that way.
an absolutely beautiful song all your girls should check out for your father dauther dance is cinderella by steven curtis chapman. its one of those songs that you cant help but cry too with the combo of sweet lyrics, a beautiful melody, and the dance between a father and daughter! let me know what you all think!
We're doing Lullaby (Goodnight my angel) by Billy Joel and You are the Sunshine of my life by Stevie Wonder for parent dances. Good luck and congrats!

Heyy! :)
I'm getting married next week - October 11 (YIKES!!!). I am looking for a good song to dance to with my father, as well as him with his mom. He would prefer not to dance by himself, so we're doing it together.
I don't want anything too old school. I feel like a lot of people are doing My Wish by Rascall Flatts for this nowadays and I don't want to do the same ol' song. We're going for 'different,' I suppose...but meaningful and dance-able.
Makes no sense, I know. Any suggestions?
Our first dance is In My Life - Beatles. I'm walking down the aisle to Sister Hazel - This Kind of Love...also Lifehouse - You & Me will be played for my bridesmaids. Our Recessional is Stolen - Dashboard Confessionals. Just some ideas that I'm throwing out there to help you help me! :)
THANK YOU!
