We're not. My FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves and so didn't feel that gifts for our parents were necessary unlike the wedding party members who will be getting gifts.
We are getting our parents blurb hardcovered albums of wedding pictures after the ceremony though.
If your parents are nature lovers like mine are, my brother and sister-in-law had a tree planted in their honor at the landscape arboretum. Maple trees for some reason have become very significant in our family, so they enjoyed the fact that their name is on a plaque of this growing tree.
as my alterations are being made, I am going to request that the seamstress saves all of the scraps for me. Then I am going to enlist my willing and able sister to sew the scraps together and make little change purses from the scraps. I may also buy a small pair of earrings and put those in the little purses and present them to my mother and the mother of the groom. Not sure about the dads yet.....
My mom is the only suriving parent and we are getting her a Coach purse since she would never buy it for herself plus we got an awsome deal on it. But if we were buying for a set of parents I always wanted to name a star after them through International Star Registry http://www.starregistry.com/
We gave both our parents a garden statue for in their yards, both sets of parents love gardening. We found a really cute one of a boy and a girl standing under an umbrella.
We gave both parents a really beautiful, nice frame for a family portrait from the wedding. We also gave my parents (who paid for the wedding) a very nice bottle of wine (they are wine lovers) plus framed a smaller version of the art from our ketbuah with our names and wedding date inscribed on it. Oh and we took both parents out for a nice meal the night before the rehearsal so they could get to know each other a little better!
We are also paying for our wedding but I wanted to get something just to show thanks for what they have helped with. I got the moms pearl brooches and cufflinks for the dads but I plan on giving them engraved invitation photo frames when we get our wedding photos back.
Are you giving the parents gifts at the rehearsal dinner? If so what did you get/are you thinking of getting. I need some inspiration :)
