what about the dinner and a movie package? our cinema does them and you can select different resturants, or else... tie up gift cards in a popcorn container... or get them theater tickets.
separate gifts would be ok too.. one for mom / one for dad
Think of what their hobbies are if they have any, like golf. A round of golf for Dad and a spa day for Mom might be nice. Do they collect anything like antiques or drink wine?
I got my mother a bracelet, all the dad's a pocketwatch engraved, his mother some specialty body stuff in her fav scent from Elizabeth W, and his stepmom a travel bag because thats all they do, designed similar to one of her fav artists.
We actually made photo books of each of us growing up through the years and dedicated each book to each set of parents. We also gave the Moms Coach scarves for the upcoming winter in their favorite colors. And we gave the dads personalized cufflinks. We also gave each set of parents a framed picture of the two of us for them to add to the 'family collection'
Both Moms teared up with the photo books and they love it still - they both have it displayed on the mantals of their homes.
Thanks everyone for the ideas. I'll definitely have to think about it.
Ladysu, The photo books are a really cute idea. Did you do a book with both of you in it, or like just yourself for your parents? Did you have to steal some of their photos of you growing up to get them scanned?
We got my parents a fruit of the month club from Harry & David. This is great for the couple who has everything but loves fruit! You can get a "light" or premium depending on your budget and can even start off with a GREAT basket with all kinds of yummy things.
We also got my MIL a photo box with an IOU for some wedding photos to put in the box. This will be a place she can keep photos of us and our family as we have kids etc.
Hi Cyshas - we did two books - one of just me growing up and one of just him growing up and we made the last page a picture of both of us (one of our engagement photos) and below it, it said "Thank you for everything and now, you get a new 'son/daughter'!"
as for the photos - I had asked my parents for photos of me growing up for the wedding slideshow - I knew something was up when I somehow got 200 photos from them and from his parents, we received 250 photos of him...so we used about 20 from each pile for the slideshow and the rest we incorporated into the photo book for them. For Christmas gifts, we've discussed making wedding photobooks for them :)
We are doing photobooks for Christmas, from the photos we got for the slideshow (which, yes, I did scan and it took forever).
For the wedding gift, though, we didn't give it to them on the day-- rather we bought each something nice on the honeymoon, representative of where we went and mailed it, along with a letter, before we got home.
Wow nice...OK I'll need to think of a way to get more scans of photos.
Cubangirl, that's a good idea too. We're going to Ireland, I'll have to see what type of things thy might be interested in from there.

My parents are paying for the wedding, and his for the rehearsal. So we want to get them a nice parent present. Please let me know if you have any ideas.
We can't do spas, becuase one person in each couple doesn't like them. For travel, I'm not sure how to arrange, because we're not sure what dates they can travel or how much the tickets would be...
