My brother and I are throwing my parents a surprise 40th Anniversary Party in August. We are expecting around 80-100 people. It’s nothing fancy as its in my parents small town. We are having their wedding cake replicated as a special touch.
What would be some good (easy & cheap) foods to make? We are trying to keep things low budget, as my parents will kick my tush if we spend a forture! haha.
Any cute ideas for the actual party? Or any recommedations from anyone who has thrown this sort of party?

Have you invited their bridal party?
Have you considered having a menu of foods from the year they were married-1972? or the 70’s in general?
Songs from the 70’s
poster boards of photos for the guests to look at
or a powerpoint presentation
ask each guest to send you a memory of time shared with your Mom and Dad- have all of them using a sheet that you send them and they mail back before the anniversary or bring with them- and put them together for a book of memories
There was an old TV show called This is Your Life where they surprised somoene with people from their past. google the show title and see how you could use the format.
decorate with ruby colors as it is the “ruby” annversary-
use cranberries around candles
or place a red flower under a wine glass
