@Haruyou: Did you ask her to back off? Were you irritated with your mom when she suggested things? It sounds like she’s happy to provide input but is backing off because she doesn’t think it’s wanted. Is this the case?

She’s treating you like an adult.  Instead of fighting her for your way, she is going to sit back and let you be an adult.  Mistakes and all.  Congrats!!

@Haruyou:  i need my mom to help me do practically everything eventhough i’m 28, engaged, living on my own etc… i just value her opinion so much!  so talk to your mom, ask her to help you find a happy medium.  tell her you want her input and need her to ask questions, but don’t let her tell you what to do.  in the end it’s your wedding/life.  i will always turn to my mom for everything, i love her too much and couldn’t imagine life without her!

@Haruyou:  In regards to wedding planning, maybe consult her. She’s not actively getting involved, but if you want her opinion, it may be best to come up with a list of three options, what you’ve done to suss them out, and pros and cons. Go to her and say that you’d like to discuss them with her to get another view on them so that you can make an informed decision. This way, you get the involvement of your mom, but she feels like you’re taking the lead.
