I would rough it in a one bedroom if you can. Smoking is a big nono esp. around little ones.

One bedroom, because of the smoking.

1 bedroom.  The kids are small enough that while it would be tough, another room’s not necessary yet.

Sorry about the troubles you’re having.

@figgnewton:  Ever heard that saying, “You can never go home again?”  it exists for a reason.  Do what you have to in order to be in your own space on your terms.

@figgnewton:  Why can’t you stay where you are?  Just get a part-time job and cut back on some stuff.  What did you go to college for?  Maybe you could tutor.  I make a lot of money tutoring for not that many hours of work, which is great as work on the side — especially since you’ll have two kids.

That’s a tough one. I REALLY wouldn’t get along my parents if I lived with them but they do technically have enough room for me. I might stay upstairs and keep to myself, with the family.

I live in a one BR now and I guess technically it’s possible to have two children here but it wouldn’t be easy. We’d convert the master into the children’s room and just kind of live a studio-esque life in the living room I guess. Honestly, this is likely what I’d end up doing.

ETA: Forgot about the smoking. One bedroom. My mom has taken up to smoking inside and around my nieces, something she didn’t really do when we were growing up. I told her she won’t be asked to babysit my children if she continues to smoke around my nieces. I’ll still have her OVER, just not babysitting.

@figgnewton:  I would 100% without a doubt move into the 1-bedroom. I would never risk my child’s health and be around smokers all the time but I’m crazy about those types of things…I wouldn’t even let people hold her that I knew smoked… Maybe look for a 1 bedroom with a large closet or den…I’ve seen some REALLY cute walk in closets that were turned into nurseries
