Well everyone kinda new it was coming for us lol We had been together for almost 7 years. They all knew that we had already gotten a ring…It was more of a – duh congratulations type moment- no screams, no crazy over joyed faces….kinda took a little something out of it, but it’s ok..I’ll take that over everyone being at war any day hahaha

Both sets of parents were happy.  My parents really like my FH, but I don’t think getting married is that important to them in general, if that makes sense.

My aunt-mom was a little hesistant, but she came around. The rest of my family was pretty happy for us, but in a quiet way.

They were ecstatic. We were together for more than 5 years and lived together for 4 1/2 before we were engaged. Our engagement was long overdue.

My mom cried, my dad was thrilled and his parents were just as excited as mine were. I feel bad for those whose parents were less than happy about their kids engagement. It’s such an awesome feeling having everyone be so excited!

ETA: I should probably also add that both sets of parents knew it was coming. We picked out the ring together and our parents all knew about it. Fiance asks my parents permission and he told his parents what his proposal plans were a few weeks beforehand.

We got engaged while we were on vacation with his parents and they knew it was coming. His mom cried! Everyone was very excited.

Then we called my folks and told them. Equally excited. They also knew it was coming because he asked for their blessing the night before we left for the trip.

They seemed pretty pleased, for my parents at least (never ones to share emotions).

To be fair, my OH had got their permission about 3 weeks earlier, so it wasn’t a surprise for them. And his parents knew, and a couple of very close family friends.

But my sister didn’t know before-hand and she was pretty thrilled πŸ™‚

Fiance had my ring sent to my mom’s house so I wouldn’t know about it so I know my parents knew (and were excited) about it!  Actually, it turns out pretty much everyone in my life except me knew about it.  FI’s mom was waiting outside the restaurant where we got engaged to take pics πŸ™‚

So excited!! Everyone knew it was coming but I think they were all worried he would never get on the ball!! I wanted to wait until the next weekend to tell everyone in person but both my mom and Fiance had said before that the idea was ridiculous. We got engaged over dessert at about 10:30 on a Friday night, enjoyed another half hour in the restaurant and then left and called everyone!!! We woke up his dad and mom (they are divorced so we woke them up separately) but they were VERY excited. We spend a lot of time with his family so we’re very close. We also woke up my parents who were very excited. The next morning after it had a chance to sink in Future Mother-In-Law sent me a text about how she already thought of me as a daughter and how happy she is that she can actually claim me now πŸ™‚ It was so sweet!

My parent’s already knew! Fiance had asked my dad for his blessing that morning. So I kept trying to call them but couldn’t reach them because they were out to dinner celebrating!!

@Gingersnap: LOL

Both our parents were over the moon, freaking out crying excited. Okay well maybe just our moms cried. πŸ˜‰

My mom was hilarious… she kept posting on facebook how she was so frustrated that she had this “exciting news!!!” that she “couldn’t share yet!!!!” because we hadn’t posted it yet. Hahaha. And then it was all she would talk about for like, weeks. lol.

lol his parents didnt even smile. they were like-“when? where? who’s gonna marry you? omg! r u pregnant!?  where ya gonna live? how much money will you all be making together? hows your credit? are you too much in debt?…” and the list goes on. once we got all the questions answered they were sort of happy….i mean we’ve been dating for 3 years…its not like we just met.

my parents were happy (but they’ve got 5 kids, prolly just happy to get another out of the house lol!!)
