A family member is making our invitations as a gift to us… should we show our parents before we hand them out? I think we should as a nice thing to do but my FI thinks we should wait so it’s a surprise… Whose right?

Well it’s kind of whatever you want. Are they paying for/hosting the wedding? If so, they should see them, I think,

I don’t think there’s a right or wrong on this one, just a personal preference. I personally want to show our parents before we send it. They probably don’t care much about what they look like but I like to run things past them so they feel involved. I think the important thing is, before you finalize the wording you want to make sure that you’re not offending anyone or leaving anyone out that shouldn’t be left out. If that’s not an issue, then you guys will just have to decide which option will win!

I vote that you should show them before they’re sent 🙂

I think you should wait, so it’s a surprise!! I know that’s what I’m doing! They’ll get it and be estatic…have a little faith in your decision! 😉

My mom was pretty hands off when it came to me picking out the invitations and stuff but I did show her a copy of the proof and went out to William Arthur’s website to show her exactly what the invitation looked like.
She’s paying for the majority of our wedding but is pretty hands off when it comes to the whole process (she hasn’t even visited the place where our reception is taking place) but I know she just loves seeing the little things like the invitations and stuff.

I say give them a choice. Ask them if they would like to see them before you mail them off. I know my mom is nosey as all get out so she would definitely want to have a sneak preview before everyone else =)

Eh, its whatev. Neither one of our parents saw them till we sent them out. My mom had an idea of what it would look like, but hadn’t seen the final project. My parents also live in a different city, so if she lived closer, I’m sure I would of shown her just for fun.
