So Fiance and I went to our favorite local park today. He had mentioned several times before that it would be a great place for a wedding. I never really liked the idea until today and realized that the space is not too bad. We’re both outdoors people and the only other venue nearby that we like and can afford has both an indoor ceremony/reception space and I know that we would both prefer getting married underneath the trees. 🙂 It would also be very inexpensive for us of course. We may try to look around for some other parks and possibly look into the idea of a national park that’s not too far.. We like this park because it’s local, can accomodate tons of people and it’s simple and outdoors. We want to get married this time of year next year when we’re out of school.
We would probably have our ceremony under that gazebo looking thing in the second picture. You can see the playground in the background in one of the picture which is kind of a bummer but we do love that the kids would have something to do. We really want to get as much people involved as possible and just have a genuinely fun and happy wedding.
What do you think? Do you think we should try to find somewhere nicer? Any advice? Thank you 🙂

If you like it, then that’s all that matters. I’m not a fan of park weddings because of the heat and because of weather unreliability. Anyway, as long as you’re going to something casual, then it’ll work.

I LOVE outdoor weddings! I’m with you OP—I think getting married under the trees would be so prettyl. Plus, you save a ton on decor because of the natural beauty of the setting.I say go for it! If you have some flowers and pew markers, your wedding will be gorgeous.

I think it would be lovely!
Would you hire a caterer?

I had a park wedding and the guests all loved it! We had so much fun, it was a casual, laid back, family affair. We DIYed the food and decor. It was just as pretty as any wedding I’ve ever seen.

I’m thinking about doing a park wedding too. We want the autonomy to do what we want which don’t get at a lof of other venues. At the same time it will require a lot of DIY without us saving all that much money (so it seems). Does anyone have any advice on how to do a nice park wedding? I just want to hire someone and say “make it look like this” and be done with it. Who does that? Is that the job of a wedding planner?

My only concern would be cold weather or rain, that could seriously ruin your reception!
Some parks around me do have rental building available within their parks [in fact, we are renting a building in a park for our reception, it seats 200].
If you really want your reception, go for it!
Otherwise, I would look something with an enclosed building!

I think that’s a GGORGEOUS spot! Just decorate it a little, and it will be AMAZING!
