(Closed) Partial unemployment… tell my boss??

As far as I know, new unemployment claims of any kind are verified with your employer by the state.  The state needs to verify employment dates, salary, terms of parting, etc.

I’ve never done a partial unemployment claim, but I would advise your boss that you are doing so, so he will be prepared for the phone call.  He’ll need to provide that info on your employment with them, and the reason for your reduction in hours.

My company is currently participating in Shared Work programs in OR and WA, where we have reduced hours and get about half of what we lose back in unemployment benefits.  If there are more than 3 people with reduced hours (10-50%) due to the down-economy where you work, you might encourage your boss to look into the program.  I might be wrong, but I think the benefits might be a little more generous than a partial claim, because you don’t get dinged for the hours you do work.
