I know here in the US you can pay a fee to expedite it. But it’s a hefty fee.

Standard processing is 10 days in Canada but I believe you need to pay a fee to pick up the passport, there’s also urgent and express. You need proof of travel for urgent and express not sure what else though.

_blackbird_:  where are you traveling to? Every country has their entry requirements online. A simple google search will probably answer your question. I’ve traveled when my passport was about to expire before but I guess it depends on the country…

If you apply for urgent or express he needs to apply himself but you as a third party will be able to pick up. I am not sure about standard. Your best bet is to call your closet passport office.

It’s $170 to get an expidited passport if it’s not expired, and it takes about 3 weeks.

In the UK you can get a fast track appointment for a same day turnaround. It’s quite expensive, but useful! I used it before when I got a job offer in a different country and had to start really soon. Is there any option like that?

_blackbird_:  been there over 20 times and most of my friends are from there. As long as it’s still valid that’s all they need. Now I don’t know what Canada requires to re-enter but I can’t imagine it’s an issue unless it’s expired because what’s the point of an expiration date (for your own country).

Even with 5 months left you have plenty of time I think. We submitted our request last week and were told we should receive our new passports (4 of them) by August 20. We didn’t pay for expedite process or anything.

We’re also in Ontario. We went to drop it in person at a Service Canada drop off desk
